It really is frustrating. Rui has got to be 6ft 8 and 240 or so. He’s big and strong and spent the summer with sumo wrestlers. He seems like the perfect player to gobble up boards. It’s bizarre. Take a page out of Vando’s book. Rui just doesn’t seem to have a knack for the ball that way. Look how long it’s taken for him to lock in on D as well. His bball IQ is way behind his physical development.

That said I’m still a fan of his and think it would be silly to let him walk. He’s got value if only as a bench scorer and I’d lock him down with a reasonable contract. He’s happy to be here in that role now.

rui's just not a super intuitive player, imo. he's a technician. he has some very good physical tools and obviously strong work ethic; he's just not a natural basketball player. that's fine; he's still a good nba player. but i think the rebounding and some of the defensive issues are just purely about lacking the "feel for the game" or whatever. you can't coach it, and only some of that gap can be made up with experience. knecht has similar issues.

Rui apparently getting involved in rumors with the singer Doja Cat, but shut it down!

Someone pushed something about his low rebounding numbers being related to him being our best defender at the three-point line and the distance from being in position to get rebounds. I’m not sure I buy that, but just throwing that out there.

I don't know what games they are watching. All I see is opponents taking wide open threes and our nearest guy about 10 feet away.

Come back from Page 2 Big Guy you're better than that and glad you're still here!

BTW .... why is it I keep seeing a cap hold of 27M for him when he's making less than 20M now .... multiple times? What am I missing?

rui falls in bird, above average (same as reaves, iirc).

anyway, rui's cap hold is of no concern to me, as if we keep him it will be at or below his current salary, so we'll likely renounce him in almost any case. we can still sign him, but he won't strangle our cap unless we want him to (this would basically mean we keep lebron and operate fully over the cap again, which seems incredibly unlikely).
