Marcus makes some great plays in games, but he is curiously shaky at the end for some reason

If he can shoot 40-50% from deep and run defenses to wear them out chasing through screens like JJ used to plus the addition by subtraction of getting rid of Gabe it’s a huge win win. Especially with the passers on this team and all the doubles they require.

in short minutes, he's been super effective. Just can't overdo it with him.

Well the difference is Gabe regressed to a point where he was a liability defensively, to the point he would be targeted. On offense, he was scared inside the 3 point line and in 4/5 games he was BAD from deep. He'd have his random, hey that kind of looks like the Miami guy and then like the groundhog, would go back into hiding indefinitely.

Gabe couldn't fill up a stat sheet or do any of the non-boxscore stuff which is the opposite of Marcus. Even if Marcus puts up a 2/2/2 night, he was our best defender, picked up the toughest non big man assignment, dove for 5 loose balls, drew 2 charges, made 1 crazy pass (attempted 2 others and failed), and hit a timely shot that was significant to the momentum of the game.

JJ wanted 10 Gabes, f*** that. Give me 10 Smarts cause this team is so devoid of that level of intensity and defensive give a f***, I'll deal with the offensive rollercoaster.

    Yes this x 1000

I love the way smart plays, he gives us that intensity and is an absolute dog out there. When he and the robber baron are out there they cause chaos and raise the defensive floor and the collective energy out there.
