ok. but that doesn't mean jeanie is going to have any power or say in bball decisions, despite her title. and walter, as the owner, surely isn't obligated to obey her orders

when has someone ever bought a pro team and allowed the former owner to retain full control over things?

I’m inclined to believe Jeanie’s basically out as a decision maker. I’d just like to know, as a fan, who’s doing what. Is that owed to me? I guess not. But someone’s on the hook for using our first round pick, and the people I assumed headed this up are gone and lobbing grenades at the franchise in the press. Well—who replaced them? Make me feel better!!

Why is everyone so concerned about it right now?? Has Mark suddenly risen to his Peter Principle ceiling by stepping into the NBA arena and forgotten how to do that AWESOME GREAT owner thing his does in Sports? Everyone was all over the concept of him bringing in the best of the best from who is available and he can steal away from other teams. This just maybe will take a little time, you think?

She fired her brothers who ran the scouting department. That basketball related as hell isn't it? She fired her sister on the administrative side. Sounds like she's still in charge to me.

When has someone EVER had that written into a contract, as a condition of the sale of a sports franchise? However it absolutely did happen in this case.

Giving her 5 years might have been the only way, she agreed to sell. Her vote was the tiebreaker..she had the leverage

Only thing I’ll say is that basketball isn’t baseball. You can no longer simply outspend here.

Dude get a new schtick. It's lame, tiresome and annoying. You came in here start of the season guns blazing crapping all over him and mocking what to expect when LeBron was out and Luka wasn't going to be available "laughing your a** off". And he went out against a long athletic team and dropped 50 plus and we won and has played great this year. If you're not on him about his D it's about his offense allegedly against good defenders. And now you have to eat it because he's going to get signed to a fair, hopefully bit of a hometown discounted contract. Stop being an a** clown with your attitude about it.

Get your happy a** off the forum. You "optimist." The team is fu***** a**. And if you're there wanking off to a solo Reaves move when he gets offered his max contract and that's our only move, you're delusional.

Shall I get the lotion for you? No diddy.

Mark Cuban had a verbal agreement, they kicked that s*** to the side immediately. Jeanie got it in writing, she's no dummy, she fought her brother for control of the team and won. She knows how to navigate legalise.

Yes and Dr. Buss prepaid the taxes so the Lakers could continue to be a family run organization and the children would not have to sell. How’s that working out…..oops, they sold. People can say whatever they want, doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.

She's still Governor for 5 years so what. No way in hell is she telling Mark NO on any FO decisions or player decisions. She took care of all her people with salary extensions and bonuses. Stop stressing over it for crissakes. (not at Cookie :))

Oh I see he deleted it, I was a bit confused yeah, I thought we were now literally like 1.5 mil below the first apron but I kept seeing that info out there. That does open up who we can sign if bought out.

No Cookie that's why she got it in writing , as a condition of the sale. You guys keep skipping over that part. That's not a trivial point, he can't force her out, he'd be in violation of the contract he signed[/QUOTE]

she would've looked extremely cowardly if she had walter fire them instead of doing it herself. especially when she's the only one from her family who stayed on

but again, her staying on as governor on paper doesn't mean that she'll have any say when it comes to bball decisions

That's a basketball decision period. The brothers didn't say Walter fired them, because they know she's still in charge. I know you guys don't like hearing this but it is what it is. They didn't want to sell, if they thought he directed that, they would have said so. Why not?

Furthermore..how long did it take Walter to put his stamp on the Dodgers? Immediately..it's different with the Lakers because the conditions of the sell of the franchise was different.

The problem remains: we never have proper tradeable assets available. We either let them walk out the door, or trade them for trash like Muscala and Westbrick, or short term rentals.
As for adding any of the washed stiffs:
I would only be interested in DeRozen( because he can still score in bunches) or Klay, due to his body containing purple and gold blood.
It actually doesn’t matter since we have no chance of doing anything in this year’s season playoffs.
Just decide who becomes fully guaranteed between Timme and Bufkin so we can get a longer look.
I too would like to know who’s prepping for the draft. I think with all the turmoil that’s gone down mid season in the FO, it would be a nice gesture by Walter to inform the Laker faithful that there’s someone capable doing this work.
