They might actually like Hunter. Again I never got the vibe that Ellis was a big deal to them in the 1st place. Interestingly enough, they still have Derozan, Lavine, Monk and Sabonis up for grabs. The Kings might be the biggest sellers at the deadline. Sabonis is still a good player.

It doesn't really matter what they do with them. They saved $50 million and did not get worse. Pretty good trade for the Cavs.

Well Lonzo played 25 min in a couple of games here recently. His shooting is iffy but he's been rebounding well, dishing 4 or 5 assists with multiple steals in a few recent games. He's not fully cooked yet.

Yep that's why the Cavs traded 2 PG's while stil having another all star PG on the roster - definitely believe in Lonzo

That's not what I'm saying, I don't care what the Cavs are thinking, Lonzo at 10M has more value to me than Kleber. I'd look at him if he gets bought out, if we do a two for 1 swap for somebody too. Actually with Ellis and Shroeder, I'm expecting him to take a buyout.

I like Colby too. He's on an expiring deal as well...I wish we had a couple more picks in our pockets.

Must be the Lakers tax. Any other team, they'll take their garbage 30% from three shooter getting paid $25 million next year. But when it's the Lakers, all of a sudden they want the Lakers 1st rounders and a young star.

I'm glad the Lakers didn't bite on that DeAndre Hunter trade that the Cavs kept trying to peddle.

Terrible deal for the Lakers unless they were getting picks in return that they can flip for other moves.

I'm fine with keeping Rui. He's not the problem but just visibly, the easiest to trade because he's got some value and has the salary to make a trade for a competent player.

Lakers best option is to try and package $25 million worth of salary involving Knecht, Maxi, and Gabe along with some 2nd rounders for decent role players.

Would like to see the Lakers get Gary Trent/Bobby Portis. Bucks aren't making the playoffs. Gabe/Knecht + 2nd rounders would work.

    What do you guys think?

Gary Trent / Bobby would improve the Lakers shooting and give the Lakers two very serviceable role players rather than it being wasted on two guys who are producing negative out there. Frankly, it's too late to find defensive 3/D guys without giving up 1st rounders. It'd be in the Lakers best interest to start drafting these guys or developing younger guys (like Max Christie) than overpaying 1st rounders to these poverty franchises expecting overpay.

If we aren't taking any money back, and we don't flip our pick into multiple firsts in the upcoming draft, I don't think we are making any substantial moves. I'm not sure about this cap space plan, thinking that we are going to simply outbid some team for their RFA is a risky proposition IMO.

I don’t care about Ellis or Hunter, but man, the FO has to start to make moves to fix this team. I do not see how we can make this roster a contender in one offseason, so that means we have to start adding pieces now, even if just one, just one player that can be useful now and on the Luka timeline. I do not think cap space fixes this roster, most of the best players don’t move in free agency, but in trades. Not potentially adding a really good player because they have a multi-year deal is not working, they did the same thing last season/in the offseason, it’s not a good way to build to keep adding guys expiring deals. It’s not good for continuity, it’s not good for players feeling security and not looking to get their own out there for their next deal, I just don’t like it.
