when i said jjj was overrated, i didn't mean he sucked. he's good. we don't have the assets unless we move reaves+, and i don't think he's worth reaves+. like, we're not in a better spot after doing that, imo. it necessitates further trades.

I think we’re likely almost always going to have Klutch clients on the roster, there’s a lot of them, but I look forward to it being different in the level of attention that brings when LeBron is gone

Yeah no way is he campaigning for Rob’s job or he’s as big a :Schrooder Clown: as Dennis and Horry pumping the trade AR now when he’s making 13M a year and even if paid what he’s fully worth … would be worth more and actually cost waay less than what JJJ is locked into being paid this just done recent contract. This is like Lonzo’s old man when he had 2 feet pumping his kid as the sole ticket to the Lakers having any chance with LeBron already here.

Was that too mean with the 2 feet blast? :giggle: Screw him for his time in the public with this team.

I'd do that trade straight up.

Running the Lakers in Prime Time is not for the Untalented and Timid. Who you got in mind with AR shipped out for when Luka may have to spend extended time unavailable, or even in game when he sits and no more LeBron?

Why would you trade the better player straight up? At the very least if we don’t intend to keep Austin that’s awful asset management, they’d need to give up picks.

Never been a huge fan of JJJ myself & Rich keeps bringing it up makes it seem like he has an agenda, but I don't care.

If Rob keeps preaching championship expectations & this team falters in the PO's again, everybody should be available outside of Luka.

Yes, it has to be the right deal, but to sit here and act like Austin is so "coveted" that we can't even bring him up in trade scenarios without people getting upset is just silly.

As you can see, the usual Austin advocates are all but gone since he's been injured, but they will gladly come back when their boy returns. It's just funny.

And yes, he was playing good basketball, yes it seems like we' miss him (we don't lose the Milwaukee game with Austin as an example), and he'll likely get paid max money this offseason because the worst thing that we can do is let him walk for nothing. That can't happen.

Either way, I'm done with this thread until he comes back probably after the All-Star break. Then our white "MJ" can return I guess...

Well, most of the JJJ talk, at least from me, was when the rumors about Ja starting going around and Memphis continuing to reset things. If they have a fire sale, I'd be interested in JJJ at the right price as he'd instantly be our best defender by a mile even with his flaws. I wouldn't trade Austin for him though and have no idea how such a trade would work. Never really went further than "the only guy from Memphis I might be interested in is JJJ."

I don't know how much longer Rob (or any other front office holdover) lasts if we don't get out of the first round again. If no deals are made, then you have some options headed into the summer, but I'm just not sure Walter wouldn't prefer to have his own people making those choices and building up the next version of the team around Luka. Especially when it comes to making decisions on keeping Austin, JJ's future, etc.

 ….. no you’re not done Mr Snark when it comes to AR. Your biggest problem is not knowing whether to b**** about his defense or his offense when the Blue Meanies come for him. Super glad Walter will be making decisions and not you. Luka’s not exactly Iron Man and will miss time too going forward.

much better fit for us due to JJJ's defense. I love Reaves, but I keep going back to the fact it's really difficult (not impossible but difficult) to win a chip in modern NBA with a back-court of Luka/Reaves.

if we got other assets with him, even better.

What is so funny? More like a DUH observation. Not all but gone as you see when we comment on trade ideas, and dumb things said like below. But what’s to continually assess when he’s out of the lineup?
