How about the 1st one and Vucevic for the 2nd. Sounds good to me.

Well Rui, Vando, Gabe, and Maxi works to get you lavine and ellis. Considering the market is set for Trae Young like players (cough lavine cough) it would be a move I could live with even though not an ideal move

Really have to hope Thiero can get minutes in Vando type role for this year at least

    Heres one that is realistic
Brandon clarke and KCP for Rui, Gabe, and Dalton

If clarke can get healthy that fixes a lot of the issues with the Lakers motor issues and two good defenders added

i know young's nothing special, but how were the hawks not able to get anything better in return than an expiring contract and a bench guy?

in the right situation, and if you're willing to take on dead weight like kispert.

if we knew we'd be operating over the cap this summer (e.g., lebron was coming back, etc.), i'd say there's some spending power there. but we don't know that yet.

like it. bulls probably don't, as ayo has been named as a core piece, i think.

we've batted this one around, and i'm not opposed, particularly if we keep our picks. ellis slots in as a starter, lavine as super sixth man.

the issue with any deal that eats space next summer is ayton, imo. is he going to leave in FA? what would we have left to replace a starting center if he did? in the cap space plan, we can factor in an ayton raise at just above mle to ward off suitors. in the over-the-cap plan, we have to hope he takes the non-bird raise (which exceeds tpmle, but not mle).

clarke's a tough sell for me. sort of the undersized pf/c version of vando, complete with injury concerns. they need to send me vince williams or gg jackson on top of that for me to bite.

I liked Kispert coming into the draft. I just think Washington sucks at development.

I think he pops elsewhere. Not to the level Deni Avdija did, but that's the best most recent comp of Wiz wizzing.

And if the player addresses one of our primary needed, I'm all for "dead weight," especially on these bad teams that are loaded with players and don't know that to do with them (why i brought up Justin Champagnie on the last page, not dead weight but a player buried on a bad team that is clueless).

avdija definitely looked better when he got out, but there was a lot more promise on display from him while he was there (avdija was traded for a lotto pick, another first, and two seconds) than what kispert has shown. kispert looks like a poor man's luke kennard, and he's got three years on a near-mle deal. if he played for us, they'd be talking about attaching eleven firsts to get off him, lol.

i get your larger point, but i'm not sure if a player that fits your description exists. our need is perimeter defense and play finishing/shotmaking. is there a player a) does that and b) is viewed as a negative asset by their current team? that's what you can get for an expiring. some other team's vando, basically. we already have vando!

edit: josh green in charlotte. negative asset, could probably be had for expiring, might be useful to us (or at least more useful than gabe or kleber).

I like Ayo a lot. I think the main issue with trying to pry him from the Bulls is that he's from Chicago and from all I've ever heard loves playing for his home town.

I'm definitely on board if he we could make a deal for him.

I've thought about the latter a lot and also would be good with it.

Also thinking out loud about scenarios like when the Spurs got a pick swap for taking on Barnes.

Some creative thinking would work well for us right now particularly when looking at dead weight players and/or guys on longer term deals.

The home run would be if Detroit pulls a Harris for MPJ trade and Nets buyout Harris. If lakers get Harris ooh boy that's an interesting team to handle - mix of offense and defense with better athletes/shooting around the big 3

I'm going to do some roster digging tonight and see what I can cook up.

Another trade thought today: Pacers are in the market for a starting C, Minny needs to find a way to shed some money and Reid is better than Gobert. What if we can help facilitate that?

Lakers trade: Rui, Gabe, DK to Minny
Pacers trade: Mathurin, Toppin, Walker to LA
Minny trade: Gobert, Miller to Indy

Minny needs another PG, they get some bench scoring in Rui and come off that salary moving forward. Pacers are too cheap for Mathurin and we get another wing in Walker and an athletic big in Toppin. Pacers get their C.

Well.... at the time it seemed a great deal vs what Shroder wanted and turned down, and how's his "NBA" career been going with all the teams having moved on from him. I know you've got that elephant memory going for you  props .... but am pretty sure it doesn't include clairvoyance. And I don't have your memory. Were you laughing at that signing then, pre injury and all the unavailability and ultimately him just being great at cardio?

.... and what a random news clip to go back and get to throw at me.

    D***
