I wish that were the case, but when you have a guy who just came from the podcast studio and a Mike K endorsement, I think surrounding him with the best assistants would help, IMO.

Correct, and he has the Suns 18-13.

yeah, i knew they wouldn't be as bad as some thought, mostly because they don't own their pick and thus wouldn't tank. they're doing the ol' james harden houston rockets thing back before they got other stars to pair with him. it's cute, but they're not for real and don't have a great path to being for real.

his job is different than jj's, in the same way that rob's job is different from most gms'.

one could argue that with our injury issues, our record is actually still impressive, even after the latest losing streak. but ott gets pats on the back for being 3 games behind jj.

the thing i'll pin my hopes to over the next few months is that we played pretty well to start the year without lebron. that's the team we'll see next year, except with at least one more competent rotation player in lebron's place. if jj can't work with that next year, he'll be fired before the season is out. but he's not getting fired this year, imo.

I don't think Luka/Austin is a sustainable contender, without another All Star caliber player moving forward.

i do. most teams don't have three all stars. those two were doing fine together early in the season. we just need a more sensibly built team around them.

i'll keep repeating it: we need our aaron gordon/kcp pickups. two two-way starters, one who can defend bigger forwards, one who can defend either guard spot. both preferably in the luka/reaves age range.

It's basically having similar players, more or less playing the same position. That's the problem to me. Austin is a poor man's Luka, we need at least a close to All Star caliber guy on the wing.

I don’t get why the Cranjis stuff bothers people so much, it’s just numbers, I find it interesting. He didn’t say JJ sucks and should be fired, he said the staff needs to do better. Tonight it seems they at least ran more plays

Any team in the NBA can beat you if you f*** around and don’t take a game seriously as possible. We aren’t a team loaded with talent that can just go out there and play 1-on-1 ball and win

Detroit just lost to the Clippers. I imagine that they will be coming to play Tuesday night. Let's see how we look against a better squad.

Detroit presents BAD matchups in their starting unit vs ours. Gonna be interesting to see what JJ comes up with.

ok hear me out: i think detroit's going to kill us, BUT...matchup wise they're much less problematic for us than SA or OKC. only cunningham can create a good shot over there, so our lack of perimeter speed isn't as big a deal. our bad transition defense, however, is a big issue. their speed and size on defense will make our offense worse, which will put us in situations where we have to run the floor defensively. and we apparently hate that, as a team.

Starting 5 vs starting 5, Cunningham and Thompson will be a nightmare.

The organized offense looked better last night! Obviously Sacramento sucks, but the rate at which we're running organized offense is what's important. And last night was a step in the right direction. Keep it up JJ!

    Please play Thiero moar.
His size, speed, and strength is much needed, especially against Detroit.

I’m not sure that as an NBA coach you need to say everything out loud

i'll repeat that he's telling on himself in the process. just say: what's happening isn't what i want to happen, and it's my job to get things that i want to happen to happen. that's what the money is for.

like, he gives a very specific example. so he knows who was on the floor and how it happened. if it's happening consistently, that's on you.

if it's luka or lebron and you're worried about being fired for confronting them...you just signed a big extension...confront them!! if you're fired, they look like s***, too! hell, if you're right and they refuse to play good basketball, you'll have another job before you stop collecting the tens of millions from this one.

    in other words:

Not really. We need a forward who can switch between the 3 and 4 (maybe even 5 in small ball lineups), who can play good D and hit a 3 ball. Then we need a POA defender who can hit the three. On offense, Luka is esssentially playing the pg role, but on defense, he can guard one of the forward spots depending on matchup. The other spot is guarded by our new, probably non-existent in our current reality forward. The POA defender plays pg on defense. It's not really too many of the same player. We're talking a Marcus Smart (from 5 years ago) and a JJJ type player. Neither of them are anything like Luka or Reaves.

all this. when lebron moves on/retires, the goal is a rangy athletic defensive wing and a POA 3 and d guy to replace him. the ayton/hayes center spot (or something comparable) is fine. i don't even think you need someone of the jjj caliber to make it work. the denver version of jerami grant and a keon ellis type would suffice.
