Let's be honest this team needs like way too many pieces right now to compete. Just a lot of flawed one way players who aren't very athletic.

Might as well so we can see if he can improve with more playing time

He needs more game speed reps to up his game

yeah, and part of the coach's job is motivation, imo. if it's a continual problem, it's a "you" problem, too.

once teams figured out how to slow down the offense, we're cooked because we're so reliably bad on defense. add in that we've abandoned organized offense (again), and we're a play-in team right now. if we don't figure that stuff out, gs will pass us and we will be in the play-in, facing okc or SA or denver in round 1. yikes.

It’s gotta be a drastic move like starting Thiero.

Getting some defense and athleticism in there.

I think I know the player he’s talking about.

I think we find a way to keep Reaves and don’t expect a LeBron trade unless Klutch really pushes for it. I’m not convinced dealing either of them is the answer.

I also note that anytime the media proposes a trade for us it always has to include our best guys while others get starters for second round picks. Teams had their chances to get Austin in reasonable trades and passed. I’m in no rush to trade him now.

We should trade guys like Gabe, Maxi, and even Rui.

If teams keep playing hardball then if I’m Walter I wait it out, put my staff fully in place, and go from there building the team in the summer.

Generally agree. There's going to be changes, though. IMO. On the margins, shakeup, whatever. This team isn't it.

Agreed. I expect a trade. May be able to scoop up someone who is bought out.

I think a Reaves trade is highly unlikely and contrary to what KOC suggests, I think Reaves is perfectly happy to stay here long term and play with Luka. I don't think Brunson left Dallas for NY because he didn't want to play with Luka, he left because he was born in New Jersey and his father played for and now coaches the Knicks.

I do agree, though, with the sentiment that there's currently no one on the roster that I'm ready to no-brainer lock in as part of the supporting cast around Luka. I've said all season that I remain a bit skeptical of Austin's matchup resilience and ability to be the 2nd best player on a Luka championship team. If I were Rob, I'd have my ear to the ground and be open to the idea of moving him. I had high hopes for LeBron becoming this super role player but that hasn't panned out. I think it's becoming increasingly clear that he'll be doing a farewell tour somewhere else next year. Ayton is fine, but kind of an empty calories guy tbh. He finishes plays made for him, which is great, but I don't think he really impacts the game much on either end. He doesn't draw doubles or collapse the defense and doesn't really deter anyone defensively. Rui just isn't a good fit and I've become increasingly annoyed with this idea that we need to start him or else his feelings will be hurt. Much, much better players than Rui have come off the bench. Jake is fine in a vacuum but doesn't help with the athleticism issue. Thiero could be something but I think he's years away from being someone you'd have in a playoff rotation. Honestly, Hayes might be the one guy I'm comfortable having in his role for the long term lol.

Trading Lebron is a pipe dream. We picked up 3 rotation players over the summer, without giving up any assets. It will be a total disappointment to me, if we can't land another quality starter by the trade deadline.

Sounds like Lakers might go with a nuclear option on or after January 14th. Something like Reaves + Rui + Kleber + 2031 1st unprotected + 2032 2nd + 2030 swap + 2032 swap to New Orleans for Murphey + Jones + Alvarado.

    PG: Herb
    SG: Trey
    SF: Luka
    PF: James
    C: Ayton

Who TF is going to give up 50M in talent for a 41 year old Lebron anyway?

fans are upset about the recent s***ty play, and the media is pouncing/trying to sow further discord.

we're not trading reaves. if anything, our lackluster play since lebron got back further cements the likelihood we do nothing splashy until he's gone, imo.
