it's easy to forget how talented he is. that throw down was wild, as was pulling up off the dribble from 35ft. we just can't afford to play a minus defender next to luka and reaves. knecht could make us look bad once he's on another team, in a situation that allows him to play his game a bit more.
i feel like his defense has improved a bit over time (stats support this and suggest he's actually not as terrible as we think). we just can't play him with lebron/reaves/luka or really any two of those three. just a bad fit. put him on athletic team that needs a shooter, and he might blow up. well, he needs to translate his shot into game situations. but i think that would just take consistent minutes and reps we don't have to offer.
Agreed. We currently have too many poor defenders, but if LeBron is gone next year and we add two solid defensive wings, there could be a spot for Dalton to gain more minutes.
eh, not over the two new wings, though, right? our best players play 2/3/4 on defense. if we add two more 2/3s even after losing lebron, it's still a numbers game. he'd be a good fit in bkn in the role they have mpj playing--he's got great athletes at the 4/5 spots behind him. he could also play knueppel's role in charlotte, imo. we just don't have the spot for him.
I like the kid, but at this point he needs to be traded for his own sake, to a bad team, so he can flourish into the player we know he can be.
