I was initially interested in Kuminga for an athleticism boost, but I have zero interest in him once I realized he has a star's body with a bad bench player's brain.

Ayo Dosonmu. Better than anybody off our bench and can play 2 ways. Decent to good size for a guard

On the Giannis front, I don't want him. He's 31, and I have serious concerns about how his game will age. If he was 3-4 years younger with less mileague, I'll take. Now? I'm good. Not worth gutting the team for...

exactly he’s not Anthony Davis. I thought Anthony Davis was worth it because we were getting him in his prime.

Agree. He was 26 at the time. That's why I didn't mind Rob giving up the farm to pair w/James.

yeah, they deserve A LOT more heat for the two timelines thing. i think that one last ring they got saved them. but it was just some luck with remnants of the old team, not evidence they made good choices.

he'd be a great fit, but i'm guessing he's among the last guys chicago wants to move.

Agreed. Still, if recent experience has taught us anything, it’s that asking never hurts!

Golden State really just drafted poorly.

Wiseman as #2 - passed on Avidja, Lamelo, Halliburton

Kuminga as #7 - passed on Franz Wagner and the below
Moody as #14 - passed on Sengun, Jalen Johnson and Trey Murphy

Imagine adding Avidja, Jalen Johnson and Sengun.

    Curry / Podz
    Butler / GP2
    Avidja / Hield
    Johnson / Green
    Sengun / Horford

    That’s a wrap.

eh, i think that game is unfair, as basically every gm loses almost every year with those rules.

the real issue is that those draft picks had serious trade value that they didn't cash in on. instead, one (the highest one) was a complete washout, one was a solid rotation guy (moody) and one has been a semi-talented headache (kuminga). each traded in isolation probably yields something better. even moody--the success story--could have been traded for a guy of current moody's quality on a similar contract at draft time, imo.

gs thought they had gamed the system but the system was and is curry.

The Warriors were never able to do with Wiseman and Kuminga what the Spurs did with Kawhi, which was to develop him initially to play a role within their system, but eventually to grow beyond their system. Kerr is a great coach, but I do think a big reason why he's not on the level of his mentors (Phil and Pop) is because he's been a little too rigid with their playstyle. Kuminga has talent, they should have been able to find a way to make use of it by now.

i'll be watching this, as i mentioned above. i felt similarly about popovich at times, though, tbh. like they found and developed stephen jackson, but they couldn't find a way to make him work in their system. meanwhile, they had several guys who looked GREAT there and terrible elsewhere.

i think both kerr and pop are/were good coaches and great leaders, but they both got the ultimate gift: a truly selfless franchise player who was every bit as competitive and charismatic as they were talented (i know td doesn't seem charismatic, but i really think he was).

anyway, this continues to be of a piece with the other conversation about presti, etc. there are degrees, but they are slight, and a lot of it is about stuff you can't control. some folks (see: harrison, nico and booth, calvin, for recent examples) fumble even the best situations. and even brilliant, hardworking people can't always overcome being dealt a bad hand.

Head coach Mitch Johnson said Wembanyama (calf) will travel with the Spurs for Wednesday's game against the Lakers, though he isn't guaranteed to suit up, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

This s*** is spot on. If the Golden State Warriors nail it and do their scouting. We aren’t even having this conversation. And they are the OKC.

Johnson Avida Lameo/Haliburton Sengun nobody is touching that team.

anybody can sign Kevin Durant and put him with Steph finding those guys is the difference.

    Mark Walters doesn’t give a f***.

I’ve seen this with the Dodgers. Friedman was the guy and he made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. Friedman has all the resources.

I can see him doing that with Presti if Pelinka doesn’t win. Throw a boatload of money at him and have him bring his whole scouting department over and give Sam Presti all the resources he wants.

It’s ok. They likely don’t get Ayton who I think is better. And they kept their #1.

We blame these guys for drafting poorly but how many of these teams just develop young draft picks poorly??
