His offense is what it is. The bottom line is that we are desperate for wing D and when Smart is out because of injuries we need it even more. JJ is being a stubborn @$& for no reason. Use the roster!

Vando's inability to catch a pass or make a 2 foot shot while playing pathetic defense half the time is not and will not ever be the answer. Vando either sits or gets traded.

JJ, 3 days ago, when Matt Peralta asked about Vando's lack of (nonexistent, lately) PT:

"I communicated to him before LeBron came back that there were certain things that he needed to be able to do consistently to play before LeBron came back, after LeBron came back, and that there was potentially gonna be a numbers crunch because we probably were gonna play a nine-man rotation and that was just the reality. Having said that, it doesn’t mean that he’s not gonna be back in the rotation at some point, whether we’re healthy or whether we’re missing a couple guys. When you’re winning games, it’s hard to re-do the rotation mid-winning streak... I certainly have empathy for him and it’s not an easy situation to be in as a coach and certainly not a fun situation for him to be in as a player."

EDIT: just saw JSM already posted this, but who thinks there's something being unsaid?

imo, what's unsaid is that vando's contractual status is firm. so it's best for him to just accept the demotion and not also generate a rep as a bad locker room guy. it behooves him to be a good soldier, stay quiet, and try to produce on the rare occasion he's called. if he does that, he can agitate in his next contract year. doing so now does nothing for anyone. it also works for jj to just say "we love vando, but we're looking at other things right now. we can count on him to be vando when we need vando." everyone wins.

If JJ were smart like PJ, he would have started Vando against Bawstun today.
If Vando plays like crap, then JJ could just say,”See, that’s why.”
If he plays well, then he earns some time in the games they are expected to win.

He's a good teammate, good in the locker room and a good practice player. That's his role unless we get decimated by injuries or have a very imbalanced trade in the near future. He's probably the leader of the stay-ready group, that's his role. He's not going to play. Any chance he had under normal circumstances officially went bye bye as soon as Thiero showed anything.

f*** that! Free f***ing Vando!! There is no way Kleber should be playing before Vanderbilt. Giving effort on D and the boards aren't impactful? FOH.
