Strong and very athletic with likely some O skills to go with looks like good D. Our new Banshee in the making. He will get (some) minutes especially with Luka, Vincent and maybe Smart out.
Definitely made me curious to see more of him. He should play more tonight, looked playable in those 3 minutes
Team held up fine with him. I'd like to see if that holds true with more minutes, because we are going to need them from somewhere. 3Q 6:11-3:38 Manon/Reaves/LaRavia/Vando/Ayton 2:33 -2 3:38-3:12 Manon/Reaves/LaRavia/Vando/Rui 0:26 +1
Didn't look out of place. Granted it was only 3 minutes, but I've seen 3 minute stretches where DK looks out of place. We'll likely find out more as soon as tonight as injuries mount and we face night two of a back to back.
Perfect opportunity to see what this kid could do. Manon could really defend at a high level. It's just a matter of how much he improves his three-point shot.
Was hoping for more minutes from him. Maybe we're still ramping him up He played 4 minutes and was +3. Really unfortunate for him and Thiero that they weren't fully healthy in this stretch, they would grow a lot with extended minutes. Hope we don't go through too long on this stretch nor we have another during of the season, so it's a shame they couldn't exploit it
Totally agree, and I don't get why JJ doesn't give him more minutes but gave Nick Smith 20 minutes. They should at least be splitting, with Manon getting 10, and see if Manon minutes can stay positive. Manon minutes this season are +2, while Smith minutes are -13. I get that Manon had an ankle sprain in the preseason, but if he can go 3-4 min, he can go at least 5-10. We're not talking 20+ min here. Anyway, hope the Manon-Smith minutes situation changes tonight.
Maybe JJ wants Smith’s apparently more capable ball handling? Just guessing since Manon is slotted as a SF?
That makes sense, but only for the 7 non-Austin minutes. After that, yes, secondary ballhandler is important, but so is defense and not shooting 1/5 0/2. Manon is listed as a guard and there's a good chance that he plays better next to Austin than Smith does.
Oh. I thought I had seen SF. Well that's even better as he likely does have some skills at least handling, and right, I wasn't even thinking about when he or Nick were out there with Austin. Definitely want to see moar of Manon as he looks like a nice pickup.
the way i remember the scouting report on manon was that he had solid ballhandling and passing skills (not pg-level, but guard skills). it was just the shooting that wasn't there.
I saw the South Bay game highlights where he had 31. Kind of gives me Lonzo vibes. Just his demeanor, the unorthodox shot, the defensive instincts, the motor, has somewhat sneaky athleticism. This guy plays defense like a free safety out there. Idk how to describe it. But he probably has a football background too.
I know. But in a similar way to Lonzo is what I'm staying. He doesn't seem to push the ball up the floor like Lonzo does, but he moves the ball well, and he is also a strong rebounding guard.
He had 4 pretty much LeBron level high in the air blocks at the rim / backboard level too in that game, that I'm "guessing" the highlights didn't show .... only scoring?
An awful lot of bemoaning the fact we need more athleticism and perimeter D including POA, while forgetting the front office hasn’t forgotten and has players with those traits (most notably Adou Thiero) in the pipeline at controlled costs. Soon as Walter took over the Dodgers it seemed like our minor league system improved greatly with the talent in the system. South Bay this year seems a bit similar.
