yeah, people laughed when i said i thought luka was our target a couple years ago. and granted, the way it happened wasn't at all how i thought, but still...

but i also agree with frontofjersey that we don't just get everyone here.

and that said, luka's the next link in a chain that will likely deliver the next version. probably not wemby, but probably someone of this caliber. it's the brand.

yeah, guys care about winning and money over anything else. or horses in jokic's case. the people who think the lakers brand and good weather will automatically attract big names were proven wrong time after time in the 2010s when big name FA after big name FA turned the lakers down until lebron came

but not for a long time. tatum wouldn't surprise me though. i don't think he'll be a C bag his entire career, and the guy is so obsessed with kobe that i think if everything lined up down the road, he'd play for the lakers

 

i actually don't know and don't think it's a guy on the radar now. if i had to pick a name now it would be ant, but i don't think he'll play here.

i'm thinking 6-7 years from now and a name only scouts know now.

One thing yall gotta know Lakers catering to LeBron giving future Lakers clutch clients a good feel about the team.

Minnesota might not be able to spend to continue to field a competitive team around Edwards which might frustrate him.


And Mark Walters has deep pockets.

 

It remains to be seen if Walters is willing to go the into the heavy penalty zone like the Dubbs have for so many years. It kind of makes sense when you are winning multiple Chips, but none at all to build a team that may or may not win one.

 

They are going to do what is reasonable, they are not going to invest in marginal maybe's, especially before Lebron retires. His money needs to come off the books first, then we find his replacement and IF we are young enough, we can take a chance on others but if you go sign a marginal guy now, and you have to pay him a bag, then LBJ retires and how are we going to have enough left to get that second superstar? That is risky. I suspect that they sign a superstar after LBJ is off the books, they could even attempt to resign Lebron after that, but he ain't going to like that, even though he should understand it since he wants to own a team someday.

 

I don't think Ant is signing up to come play with Luka. He probably sees Luka as a peer that he wants to prove he's better than.

I'm looking at young guys that have, to this point, underwhelmed as a #1 and might not be the franchise cornerstones their teams thought they were. Zion and Barnes are the first guys that come to mind. Maybe Paolo but that might be getting too greedy.

 

Keep that deadbeat piece of s*** away from the Lakers. Pigs like that don't belong anywhere but a sewer.

 

I thought Ant before we got Luka. We will see but I think that will be tough now.

I do think we will get a running mate for Luka though. Tough to say a name at this point as I definitely did not see Luka ever happening so who knows.

 

Morant is a guy who has a ton of talent but is high risk enough (age/injury, off court) who is going to be possibly gettable post-Lebron.
