i read that, but i'm wondering if what he meant was that it's higher now than it was the past few years, not higher than 42 inches. and tbh, we've never seen a functional 40" very from doncic. doesn't pat connaughton have some huge vert or something? some guys just don't/can't use it in game scenarios. relatedly...

i know i'm in the minority, but i'm ok if luka never dunks again. keep those legs near the ground. he's an all-time great on offense without posterizing anyone, and i don't want extra wear and tear to prove points to the haterz. james harden's fat a** has played like 15 years without ever being in great shape partially because he basically never jumps, lol. i think that's part of why SGA stays healthier than some, too, and why edwards worries me a bit (though he might be an mj type freak who can stay healthy while just killing his knees at all times).

i know you're joking, but i wonder if he looks a bit skinny in part just because you don't see him standing next to other nba players. he's just thicker-bodied than your typical nba player. when he gets on the court this summer, i think he'll look noticeably slimmer but still thicker than most guys. which is good. his size is a positive attribute in his game. in the article they talk about it a bit--that because of some of that bulk he's just really hard to move. it's why you see the nba defenders get really flustered with him. they try to get physical in ways that work with basically anybody else, and it does nothing.

 

Yeah I don’t mean a large quantity of dunks rather the fire a team up / embarrass some opponent he’s pissed at “statement” type when he’s got clear landing space. Doesn’t even need to jump all that high in the first place at 6’8”. Understand your point completely.

Luka getting some first-step burst back would be massive. If you combine him looking closer to what he looked like in 2020/2021 athletically with the growth in his game since then...he's the 2nd best guy in the league at worst.

Visible abs don’t have a tonne to do with core strength. They’re mainly to do with body fat and how much you carry of it and where you carry that fat. And to a lesser extent how thick your skin is and the genetics of your muscle bellies.

I’ve trained with some world class and Olympic level athletes that didn’t have abs but would embarrass anyone with their core strength, at the same time I trained with ripped athletes that had debilitating back pain, hip flexor and glute imbalances and just general dis alignment.

But, since most athletes are really active and tend to eat decently, most of them have a relatively flat stomach with lower than normal body fat. Luka is one of those pudgier builds so he may never have a 6 pack but he can be strong as an ox with fantastic core strength and relatively injury free with good mobility and stability.
