He didn’t extend Lebron. Didn’t even offer to. A+ move in my book. The leverage has changed hands. A 40+ year old declining star, no matter who he is, cannot be dictating the future of a franchise.

Walters I have no doubt put a stop to that 1+1 PO stuff and Rob did "LUCK" into that situation.

Oh yes that’s right, Rob sucks, etc.

Funny potential scenario: Lebron gets an injury prior to the playoffs that requires rehab time. We waive him so that we can fill the roster spot, and then actually win the ring anyways.

he gets a token ring by virtue of being on the roster, but it’s an empty ring that leaves a hollow feeling and doesn’t enhance his legacy.

What have you done for me in the last 6 hours? You want to give back the 2 finagled trades up to get Thiero and getting Ayton and LaRavia too? Hayes will be fine as a backup and Luka does do well tossing it up for him and he brings energy.

When you're in the same sentence as the Sacramento Kings, you deserve a penalty flag

There is some form of technicality that benefits a 3 year vs a 4 year contract. I believe the 3 year contract leaves them as a RFA while the 4 year means they're unrestricted and can sign elsewhere.

Who said that Lebron wasn't offered the plus 1? Where is this at? It looks like Bryce expects his dad to retire soon.

yeah, that article definitely states that he was offered a player option and turned it down.

back here in the real world, i'm curious about svtzr's contract claims. i could only find this.

basically, both 3 and 4 deals can end with team options. it didn't say whether one carries RFA. my guess is most teams went with 4 years and non-guaranteed back end years? in this case, i *think* when you cut a NG contract, you lose bird rights?

there have also been some weird things happen with 4 year second round deals on players who do well (e.g., chandler parsons years back).

i'm not sure i'm worried about three vs. four, tbh. you have full bird rights after three and should definitely know whether you want to keep the player. if they're worth a lot, my guess is the agent will pressure the team to make them a FA and re-sign them before getting that one bargain year anyway.

Nah man.. Bryce didn't say s*** about his contract! That man is about to retire dude, he doesn't need a 1+1, all he committed to was 1 more season..His son has more insight into what he's thinking, over any person in the media. IMO...Bronny has no comment on the situation. All the tea leaves are pointing in the same direction to me.

He could always decline his PO if this year convinces him it's time. Right? But he didn't get his USUAL contract and the leverage it's always afforded him and has been acting out of character, since Luka arrived, ever since. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck it's LeBron. ;)

That's what you want to believe, because that's the Laker/Lebron haters in the media take. Point blank...do you really believe that Jeanie, wouldn't give her super hero whatever he asked for? The man will be 41 years old this season, this leverage s*** is ridiculous.

You aren't paying attention to the signs man. AD said that he didn't think LeBron planned on playing much longer after the Olympics too! I noticed how AD, got a lot more vocal, about what he wanted moving forward, after the Olympics. He knew what time it was. The end is near. Bryce just actually put a time frame on it.

What is illogical about anything I said?

We are the Lakers, we take care of our superstars.

Jeanie loves Lebron, and she's still in charge. She would give that guy whatever he asked for. If he took 1 year deals at a time, she's going to pay the full salary, every single time.

Luka says that James is an idol of his, do you really think, that he wants to see Lebron pushed out?

The man has been dropping hell of lot of hints regarding retirement, all over the place.

Even the media haters are saying, that James looking to leave doesn't really make any sense

The only thing that is illogical, is this take, that a 40 year old James still thinks, that everything is all about him, as far as the Lakers are concerned.

Illogical, but true. He’s spent 20+ years with it being all about him. The bowing down is slowing, and he clearly doesn’t appreciate that.

Nothing last forever man, every athlete knows that, including Lebron James. The only thing you guys got, is he didn't take a 1+1!

So what? Do you really think Jeanie that wouldn't re up him, next season at his current salary?

Meh..you ducked the question, about Jeanie paying him, whatever he asked for. The answer to that, nullifies the ...we are finally standing up to Lebron! Jazz.

No. Mark put a stop to it. Jeanie I am positive isn't going to make that drastic of a strategic monetary move going forward W/O talking it over with Mark who is financing whatever tax and no trade / penalty repercussions with the salary cap. He is completely in a snit right now or he would come out and put an end to the drama that no one needs at this point. But HE likes it.
