I don’t know enough about the Dodgers to know how well or not well that organization is run. My knee jerk reaction is I don’t like an owner having split focus. I hope Mark is willing to spend
This is a good news IMO since it's the same ownership group that owns the Dodgers. Instead of us being run like a mom and pop shop, we now have deep pockets and endless resources.
Oh s*** it finally happened! Hopefully Pelinka is fired soon and replaced by the best GM money can buy. No, but seriously, this is fantastic news IMO, because there will be no more penny pinching on coaches, training staff, medical staff, scouting, etc, this will take the Lakers to another level in that regard. Doesn’t mean a ton regarding what we can do with salary and trades, we have what we have, but I doubt that ownership group would have balked at paying the luxury tax on an Alex Caruso for example, so that stuff matters.
hopefully they start by cleaning out the FO pelinka, rambii, and the rest of jeanie's nepo hires can go
So many peoples’ wishes just came true. Hope it turns out like they hoped. and franchise values are just getting insane! Wow!
Pretty much this. Under guggenheim we can now be a repeater tax team or go over the 2nd apron without having a second thought. FYI, not saying we should, but the freedom to do so is now there without worrying about the personal finances of one person.
This dude is the CEO of a management company that handles $300+ billions in assets. Safe to say this dude doesn't play around.
I don’t know anything about the guy but I like the deep pocket aspect. Should definitely give us more wiggle room and options in the future.
Dodgers Have Best Reputation in MLB Among Players, And It Isn't Close | Dodgers Nation Definitely will bring the Lakers upwards in terms of reputation amongst players.
Definitely a fan of this. Lakers could finally be run like the juggernaut we are instead of a struggling mom and pop business.
I love it. Many folks have been asking for this for years. I’m pleased with how Jeannie has run it mostly and she put us back on top but we could really use the deep pockets of billionaire ownership. I think it’s great news. Not sure what it means for Rob and the Rambii and I don’t really care. Just put out the best product possible as the Dodgers have and let’s see what happens.
Just saw this pop up on the Lakers Nation youtube channel. Whoa. I hope this means we get the best front office money can buy.
The question on my mind is whether they go for the traditional new-owner-swing-for-the-fences type trade, and try to get Giannis for next season, or try and smartly build a filled-out roster, something we haven't had since 2021.
