In my head, DFS could have taken 4 million off his contract for 3 years. And Lebron could have done the other 7.

Alas… it was a fools hope.

Lebron won't be taking discount for anyone, ever. Just my $0.02.

I guess he's coming back, but don't expect a paycut. And no draft pick is going to save us either.

I’d say this serves as confirmation that he’s returning. You don’t go through this ad campaign only to announce you’ve already played your last game.

He's playing 2 more years barring career ending injury this year. Have said it before. Bryce comes into the league next spring to whatever team and IMO for the family experience of being in the league at the same time with Bronny he's going to want that for Bryce too whether on different teams or not. Plus he's said this past year he's capable of playing more than one more year. Deal with it haters. :D ;) ;)

well, he's also talking to steve nash there, so it would be pretty rude to advocate the other position, lol.

he's also not wrong. measuring single players by team accomplishments is a little weird to me. like if you're good enough to be the sole star to drag your team to an nba finals and then get stomped by a team with more firepower (barkley, young lebron, young dirk, luka, etc.) this doesn't diminish your value. it probably demonstrates it.

some guys just never get the health, the right teammates, etc. to line up at the right time. like if jordan doesn't "retire", is olajuwon ringless? does that change his value?

its a little different since we have luka now, but I always thought lebron's window closed the year we signed russ and wasted threw another season away.

Russ was by far Rob's worst move as a laker GM regardless how much lebron pushed for it. Over letting go of zubac.

Lebron and AD were both hurt during Westbrook's time here. The window was still wide open, when Tinkerbell choked in the Conference Finals. We probably should have kept those contracts we acquired from the 2nd Russ trade. We would have been in a better position, to make some roster moves in the next season.

exactly the sort of thing not having deep-pocketed owners causes. this would have been terrible financially, but very helpful competitively.
