Huh? I don’t see why it’s so controversial to say LeBron needs to take a pay cut to win a ring. The guy has made enough money in his career taking a pay cut is not going to hurt him financially.

The man is 40 years old and he’s still a top 15 maybe top 10 player in this league, but this roster is not even close to championship caliber. In order for that to change we can’t afford to be paying LeBron and Luka both max money. If he wants to win another ring he’s going to need to take a pay cut.

Yeah but it just ignores the real reasons I listed and I’m not the first person saying them, that it’s extremely “unlikely” he’s going to shave 10-12M off.

    I agree, but he won’t.
He doesn’t want the domino effect to happen: he’s worried other GM’s will tell their guys, “See, LeBron even took a paycut.”
That being said, I’m still of the belief that we won’t be able to build a well rounded roster until LeBron retires. It’s not the lack of production(he’s been showing out). It’s the $50 million chunk he takes from the cap while being very susceptible to injuries, both during the season, and playoffs.

If we're going to keep LeBron I really hope they have him on a heavy minutes restriction all season. I don't want to see him dominate all season at 41 only to be gassed in the playoffs. I respect what dude did last season so much and feel so bad that he couldn't bring it for the playoffs after the insane 38 piece. Now that we have young Luka and hopefully an upgraded roster he really needs to be well under 35 minutes a game. Select games he can play 35+ but try to keep him right around 30 would be nice. About 7-8 minutes of PT per quarter. It's totally doable. Any game we're up 15+ with under 8:00 left, sit LeBron. If our second unit is killing it, sit LeBron.

LeBron should not play more than 30 mpg. He will be 41. I know he is the only person successful at fighting and beating fathertime but that is kind of crazy.

Most NBA players can't even dunk at 41 anymore. I know Vince Carter was also able to stay athletic untill 40, but you can't compare his mileage to LeBron.

Good luck telling LeBron he's only playing 30 minutes a night in what might end up being a farewell tour. He should be playing 30ish minutes in the regular season, but he doesn't want to do that and right now the rest of the roster isn't good enough to support that. Hopefully the latter is fixed over the offseason.

Well to be fair Lebron plays a lot of minutes and stands around on defense gasping and watching so he gets a breather in game. you know like the 4th quarters of the last series and such.

They can have him. He can opt out and leave if he wants.

I don’t think it happens. Nor are we better if he’s gone, but I’d probably watch more.

    Different strokes for different folks.

For instance, you like to argue about the same things over and over again and change your stance moving goal posts and messing with people because you think it’s fun and exciting.

I had the website www.ihatelebron.com, but shut it down after he joined the Lakers so I wouldn’t be a downer on my brothers and sisters here. It doesn’t mean I enjoy his style of basketball and I have never waivered from that.

I hate the roster turnover that comes with having him on your team, and I mostly find the basketball completely unwatchable.

I’m hoping Luka is not more of the same quite honestly. At least he’s likeable and not a known racist.

    damn, shots fired

Man.. Around here...arguing the same point, and changing goal posts, seems to revolve around having a different opinion. It would be rather boring, if everyone all saw things the same way. Besides winning chips.

Lol.. Wow...you made a website about this dude..that's wild, what prompted that?

Now ..Lebron's a known racist? Do tell..based off of what? Caring for a players game is one thing, but a known racist? That's going in a whole different direction. I'm curious as to what evidence of such, you are referring to here.

I used to feast on his narcissistic quotes, and yes, he's been caught several times making racist comments about white people. Every week it seemed like he had a quotable gem to add to the website. We all know the stuff like "That made me the greatest of all time" quote, but he had so much more on a nearly weekly basis. It was a work of passion haha, but I let it go and I'm better for it. But when you take the time to read all of the crazy stuff he has said, although it's refreshing to see him improve as a person and grow up/change, it doesn't negate that he said those things. I'll enjoy the team more when he's gone, but I don't dismiss his amazing impact and longevity stuff.

I'm not sure I care to look for the specific racist comments he has made, but I don't even feel like that's a surprise to anyone here. He slips them in, and then downplays/denies like most good liars. Taken out of context I'm sure.

You know..I've never paid that much attention, to what these guys say off the court.I usually watch the games on mute, listening to music, and I don't recall the last time, that I actually watched a post game press conference. It's all just blah, blah, etc etc. Players, coaches, FO staff..doesn't matter. All we get is the public persona, that these guys chose to present. Athletes are like politicians, they say whatever they think, people want to hear. Provocative or not, it's usually aimed at a particular audience. That audience has a tendency to change over time.

Me..I just want to see the hoops, I try to enjoy the good players when they are here, and then it's on the next ones, that replace them. 5 years from now, Luka will probably be the only one, still here from this team. I hope the next season or so, are a blast, and come with trophies. Winning feels good, losing sucks.

    true story

Having a winning team is entertaining and exciting, and possibly schedule altering. The opposite is also true. I'm still a fan, but I have pretty much zero desire to change my schedule to watch anything we are putting out these days. I did see a few good games this year, but mostly I don't feel like I have missed anything for years. If Barns doesn't fix the ability to add updated emoji gifs, I question sometimes if I have any reason to continue to show up except for the community I've come to know after so many years.
