sharpe's RFA, right? so we only get him if brooklyn chooses to let him walk. i'm dubious.

boston has financial issues, but i can't see them letting kornet walk at tpmle prices even so. especially if horford retires.

i'd be fine with lopez as long as we got another center who can be a lob threat and is mobile. paul reed is someone who i think would be a nice complement in such a scenario.

another center name i haven't seen mentioned this year is goga bitazde (whom many of us wanted last year). he barely played for orlando in the playoffs, and they still have three playable centers in him, carter, and wagner. guessing they probably don't want to ditch franz's brother, so they might be open to moving one. they've got some salary issues on the horizon as well.

    Two big differences:
Pacers don't rebuild, Nets are actively in the thick of it.
Pacers hate us, we have a working relationship with the Nets.

This free agency class sucks. Next summer is where you want spending power. If they wanted to move Claxton, they could only have Cam + this year's draft pick left on the books this time next year. Doesn't get any cleaner than that. Next summer you could have the following hit the market:
    Luka (po)
    JJJ
    Fox
    Durant
    Trae (po)
    Kyrie
    Lillard (po)
    LaVine (po)
    Harden
    Bridges
    Powell
    Porzingis
    AR (po)
    Gafford
    Wiggins (po)
    Sexton
    Washington
    White
    Simons
    Ayton

    *left out restricted and TOs.

    Too late with Brook.

Adams may be pricing himself out of our range.

But, I do think we are actually a pretty attractive option for centers given our obvious need and playing with Luka. There’s a real chance for someone to bet on themselves and instantly start for a contender.

i guess i'm still wondering why they move him? he's young, on a declining contract, plays an important position, and they'll still have PLENTY of cap space with just him and johnson on the books next summer. like--why move him for knecht and a 31 first for the rights to bid on JJJ to replace him at a much higher cost?

i'd understand it if there was a really interesting prospect coming back or something. or if the pick package were especially juicy. but we just don't have it.

don't get me wrong. we should call and make a big offer. i just don't see why they would be that interested.

I was going to put the time in to search back on @sirronstuff ’s posts under his profile because I don’t remember what thread it was in …. but they’re blocked and it would be the proverbial needle in a haystack with his level of activity and IIRC …. it was 3-5 weeks ago. But it was a really funny tongue-in-cheek answer on the “why” with some other topic … of the expectations of “Lakerfan” because his team is the Lakers. :giggle:

yeah, i just think folks are going to be (unreasonably) disappointed when we don't get claxton in july. and it will be like "why does rob suck/we're doomed" when he's probably not available to us at all.

again, i'm walking through most of the options and not seeing much that seems super realistic.

i think we'll get a center this time; i just think we need to temper expectations a bit.

i'm still in the capela/paul reed/goga/robert williams level acquisition range as being realistic.

I honestly think any of those guys would help. I’m not concerned about particular names at this point.

I think Rob already showed he's able to find moves out of nowhere. Williams being the last example.
I think we will be very aggressive in the offseason and I expect at least 3 new core rotation pieces to be brought in

Give me 2 of those 3 and I’m good. Of course I’d like to set our sights higher, but I agree the available options look to be incredibly limited. I’m not including Williams because I’m not interested in risking any tradeable contracts on his knees.

There's gonna be some serious movement this offseason, I could see all of these center's being moved in different scenarios:
    • Domantis Sabonis
    • Kristaps Porzingis
    • Myles Turner
    • Jarrett Allen
    • Nikola Vucevic
    • Naz Reid
    • Deandre Ayton
    • Nic Claxton
    • Brook Lopez
    • Daniel Gafford
    • Jusuf Nurkic
    • Jonas Valanciunas
    • Bobby Portis
    • Mark Williams
    • Clint Capela
    • Isiah Stewart
    • Wendel Carter Jr
    • Steven Adams
    • John Collins
    • Walker Kessler
    • Jakob Poeltl
    • Robert Williams III
    • Kelly Olynyk
    • Luke Kornet
    • Dayron Sharpe
I'm sure there are others that are lower profile that could be moving too.

Sabonis would be a really interesting running mate for Luka, there's probably no way to get him, but I'd give up Reaves for him. He can play both PF and C, so if you do get an Isaiah Stewart as an example or an athletic rim runner, Sabonis can coexist with someone like that because he can take and hit mid range or the 3. In a lot of ways he reminds me of Pau. Isiah Stewart is a great running mate because he shoots the 3 a bit so he can open up the paint, but he is a really good rim protector at the 5, so Sabonis can utilise his rebounding and intelligence on defence.

Would be keen to see if we could get any of Myles Turner, Jarrett Allen, Claxton, Gafford, Bobby Portis, Adams, Kessler, Luke Kornet, Sharpe.

At least Harden continues to suck and the Kawhi Leonard glazing can stop

Flippers are flippin' again. The Kawhi Leonard era has been a total and utter failure.

The Clippers will never win anything, they’re cursed, fully healthy and still out in round 1. They should have looked to move to Seattle or something to try to change their fates, they do not matter in LA. They are a loser franchise, top to bottom all they have ever known is losing, they can build the biggest arena, hire the best staff with the best facilities, doesn’t matter. Hell I’m not even sure Kobe could have turned them around. Balmer should just sell and throw another billion on his pile.

The ability of the Clippers to lose is astonishing. Even with healthy Kawhi and being up 3-1. Now, I just need GSW to lose tomorrow, and it's all good in the West. OKC will take care of the rest.

My favorite part is Harden with 7 points in a game 7. What a loser, a career loser and failed ring chaser, one finals appearance and he disappeared in that too. Adding this guy to the Clippers, what did you think would be the end result?

Does Simmons still have any contract left next year or is he finally vet min or China bound?

It's amazing how much the injuries put this halo around Kawhi. When he's been healthy and all the same pundits gush how great he looks when things are going good and they seem to come up with every excuse when he shows no leadership and his playmaking completely bombs out twice now when his team is both favored and way ahead in series

:D They’re still paying for this, OKC got an MVP and Jalen William so far, they can swap picks with the Clippers this year and they have their first next year. Hell all those picks could help land them yet another star.
