Makes sense to me. A healthy Williams is worth what we originally sent. A damaged Williams is worth taking for a negotiated lower cost. They said no, and we bailed.

Did we attempt to renegotiate the trade? I thought this all happened post-deadline so weren't able to renegotiate and rescission was the only option.

I believe his physical was done pre deadline and the back and forth carried on until after the deadline. At that point it was either yea or nay.

We weren’t allowed to renegotiate, the deadline had passed and we were stuck. They should make some kind of exception for injuries in that case. It was unfortunate for both teams.

and williams, imo. his contract negotiations will likely be impacted in ways that they may not have had a trade been struck.

I f***ing hate it. Players skip open layups/dunks and pass to 3point shooters (im looking at you DFS... you lucky AR made that).

Don't love it, don't completely hate it, but I think the game was a better game before the 3 point shot became this prominent.

It may be what the analytics decree, but it makes for a boring experience for the fans on most nights.
Thank God we at least have three great passers to provide some excitement.

Especially when most of the teams brick a lot of these threes

I like that it opens up the floor and enhances pace; I don’t like the math—the shot simply isn’t worth 1.5x other shots, based on difficulty. Made threes aren’t more exciting than made non-dunk twos, and might be less exciting than many of those. Gotta find a way to make the math work so that just jacking a zillion threes isn’t the obvious answer.

the bigger problem is allowing players to get away with blatant travels, carries, and moving screens. calling every little bump a foul on the defender doesn't help either

i hate the chucking contests too, but that's simply the result of basketball being a solved game due to analytics

I love it when we make threes which is every 5 games or so. :ADeyeshift:

That's the thing, a 3 isn't exciting unless it's the 3rd one in a row and the guy is cooking or it's a game winner. Whereas any flashy explosion at the rim is exciting every single time. Elite footwork and winning a one on one matchup with a mid or post move is exciting. Running down and firing a f*** it 3 cause math isn't exciting.

yeah, archery isn't a booming spectator sport. tons of skill, sure, but yawn. kobe and mj's and dirk's turnaround fadeaways were much more interesting to watch, and they've basically been legislated out of the game, lol.

luka, for example, has a wide array of fun shots, but he knows that if he goes 4-10 on threes, it's a better outcome on the scoreboard.

anyway, i think moving the three point line out could potentially fix some of the problem. got to at least try something. we're wasting some good basketball talent on the chuckfest ideology.

Yep, even Rui's midrange diet has largely been taken away because the analytics say if it's not a 3 or paint touch, it's a bad shot.

Might be true, but man it was much more fun watching him cook an opponent with his middie and this is someone who's not a top 50 player. That just speaks to what we're missing from the top dogs.

It's less skill and chess on the floor by taking away this part of the sport, in my opinion. Imagine what we would've missed if we made Hakeem a 3&D center in today's league.

Saw somewhere that OKC is 8-11 against Denver, Dallas, Houston, Goldens State and Minnesota. Obviously only losing to good teams isn't a bad thing, but they're basically the inverse of us. They destroy the East and bad teams in the West, but have been mortal against the good teams in the West. We struggle against the East and blow games to bad teams, but have owned the other West playoff teams.

I'm excited for today, I think we're going to come out with the appropriate urgency. I'm fairly confident we get a split.

All about focus and how the leadership’s ( Coaches and top players) attitude is going into each game.
With Ham, he had no clue regarding what it meant to be a Laker and how strong the expectations were to win.
For as much as I miss AD, I feel like his chill attitude, mixed with LeBron’s(as well as his real need to conserve energy throughout the season) cancelled out any sense of urgency on the nights they were facing a lesser opponent.
With JJ taking the reigns, we obviously have seen a greater amount of “buy in,” especially on the defensive side of the ball, but, there still exists that attitude amongst the players that because of their collective talent across the team, they may not have to “try as hard” against teams that have no chance of making any playoff noise.
