I meant more per 36, career wise he is 15/9 per 36 mins kind of guy. I don't think it's a stretch that he can be a 10/6 guy here in 24 mins with good pick and roll partners in Luka, Lebron and Reaves.

I don't think Hayes is some special player. But at the minimum he is outplaying his contract significantly. I'd like to keep him as a big on this team because defensively he works great in our switching defence as well. But if he asks for a contract much bigger than the TPMLE, we have to seriously consider letting him go in my opinion. Anything about 7m per and it's an overpay.

If Riley wanted to tear it down (i don't think he does or ever will) , next year is the year to move Bam before his salary makes the $15m jump the following year.

We could offer expirings of Rui, Kleber, Gabe, then DK, a first, and swaps.

I think that's a no and I think they could get better. But that's who I like from the list

NO. I do not believe in the Houston Rockets. We shall see what's what, on the 31st and April 11. That is all

Anyone out here in So Cal heard of this place? …. apparently a smaller sized Las Vegas Sphere type setup without the performing stage, for watching all kinds of media including sports events. It’s located in same area with SoFi Stadium and the Intoilet Dome :giggle: Am going with one of our sons to that Mar 31 Rockets game. He’s bought tickets after seeing it on the news with a reporter in there covering the Dodgers opening game in Tokyo (2-0 baby ) and knew I and he too would be interested in the experience. Will report back. :)

L.A.'s offensive prowess, manned by maestros in James and Doncic who create shots from seemingly any angle, has catapulted the Lakers into the contender conversation. But their defense has fueled their ascent since the trade deadline. The Lakers are one game behind the third-seeded Denver Nuggets heading into Wednesday's matchup (10 p.m. ET, ESPN).

WHEN NATE McMILLAN interviewed for a spot on Redick's staff last summer, the defense-minded coach knew the Lakers were coming off a season ranked No. 17 defensively under Darvin Ham. But McMillan scanned the roster and saw room for growth.

    NBA Power Rankings

    9. Los Angeles Lakers

    2024-25 record: 42-25

    Previous ranking: 5

Next games: vs. DEN (Mar. 19), vs. MIL (Mar. 20), vs. CHI (Mar. 22), @ ORL (Mar. 24)

Austin Reaves is on a heater. The Lakers guard averaged 30.8 points, 7 assists, 6.8 rebounds and 2 steals playing four games in five nights. "He's our third option [behind LeBron James and Luka Doncic], but he's better than most ones, better than most twos in the league," his backcourt mate, Jordan Goodwin said. "So we got to keep putting respect on AR's name." -- Dave McMenamin

People keep calling AR a defensive liability. That annoys me greatly.

Goodwin is absolutely right. It angers me when talking heads say stupid s*** like "we've been underrating Austin Reaves... he's one of the better 3rd options out there." No, mother******, you're still DRASTICALLY underrating him! He's one of the better 2nd options out there, better than at least half the league's 2nd options. As far as 3rd options go, he's one of the very best, arguably top 2, not just "one of the better ones."

A group led by Bill Chisholm, managing partner at Symphony Technology Group, has agreed to purchase the Boston C Bags for a valuation of $6.1 billion, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
That price would surpass the $6.05 billion price a group led by Josh Harris paid to buy the NFL's Washington Commanders in 2023 as the most paid for a franchise in North American sports history, and it would easily surpass the record number for the control stake of an NBA team, which was set two years ago when Mat Ishbia bought the Phoenix Suns for $4 billion.

Realistically, the best 3rd options in the league are...
    Clippers - Powell
    C Bags - Porzingis
    Cavs - Mobley or Garland
    OKC - Jdub or Chet

Man, it's tough to say if Reaves is definitively better. They're all ballers. Personally I'd trade HIM for Mobley or Chet in a heartbeat. Those 2 are probably the best defenders in the league.

Well yeah if you're counting 2nd options of bad teams he's surely better than Miles Bridges, Sarr or Quickley and so on.

I have him in the Bane, Jamal tier right now. He really took the leap we all wanted and expected for a while and is proving we can count on him to co-lead the team post-Bron.
He will make the contract negotiations very tough for us. I can see a world where some team gives him the max. He doesn't look like a money-hunter, but we're talking a lot of money and wouldn't hold it against him if he chases it.
Let's see how he shows up in postseason with Bron/Luka, he took a bit of a hit when playing with both and improved again when Bron went down. But I'm hella comfortable with the ball in his hands at any point during the game, which is crazy when you have Bron and Luka off-ball

Great to know! I think of course we’d still need to clear the roster spots, but I’d honestly be down to cut Reddish, Len, and Milton and convert all 3 of these guys to standard contracts

len and milton can for sure go. reddish i wouldn't mind keeping around just in case of injuries. i'd rather cut morris, but he seems to be a good presence in the locker room so that's not going to happen

goodwin and jemison need to stick around

i'm actually largely the opposite on the first part: the no-brainer for me is to cut reddish and add goodwin.

i like jemison and koloko, but i'm not sure either is any more ready for the playoffs than len.

i might just roll with len and shake, tbh. cutting vets (especially one you convinced to sign here over another offer) when they can't be added to a playoff roster is something that will piss off agents. and the upgrade from either guy to jemison or koloko just isn't big enough for me.

but reddish has had many chances, and goodwin is clearly a better player whom we probably want to keep longer-term. that one's my no-brainer.

I agree. Not really sold on Len and the sort of angry attitude Jemison has could be interesting if we get into any scuffles during the playoffs. Seems like a scarier enforcer to me.

The problem is, if Hayes gets injured, Jemison does not replace him, Koloko seems a bit better for P'n'R options. I didn't like the idea of cutting Shake, he has some useful skills. It mostly has to do with where we think we could be losing games to injuries during the playoffs.
