but they'd still have to think about what he'd be minus luka. i just don't see someone offering him over tpmle. my guess is we offer over that to start with and tell his agent to come back to us if he gets something above our offer.

and honestly, i'm willing to let him walk at that price. we found him at vet min. we can find another one, imo. in fact, my offseason hope would be to retain him and do that on top of it!

 

I agree and not worried at all about losing Hayes. Every year there are a few guys like him available at vet min, and our starting center position will be attractive for any free agent bigs looking to relaunch their career.

I get we need to star hunt for the post-Lebron era, but wouldn't go for Giannis. I'm not sure he fits Luka, it's not been great with Dame as everyone expected. I think he needs to be the "Luka/Dame"
But I also imagine Jeannie/Rob would want to do it

I think Bron will play 2/3 more years and would focus on the supporting cast

I think most GMs understand you have to have a top talent PG like Luka to maximize Hayes as well as being void of a very good big already to pay Jax big money.
I still view him as a backup at this point, and would prefer an upgrade, but completely understand if the money won’t work, or the opportunity doesn’t present itself. That being said, if Jackson remains our starter for next season, we need a better backup than our current collection of bigs.

 

As for the League allowing us to trade for Giannis a few months after we steal Luka away: This would be twice as bad for the crybaby GMs than the Kobe/CP3 pairing.
I think the NBA likes its current parity throughout the League. On the other hand, they would have another real battle between the Lakers and Boston for the next three seasons, which equates to more revenue.
We would have major depth issues, again, BUT that would be a pairing that would get us a couple of Chips.

 

Yeah, maybe someone will be dumb and overpay (Kings do this a lot, especially with bigs), but i agree that he's much more valuable to us than to most teams. Like I said earlier, I hope his agent realizes this too during negotiations. Luka is such a unicorn of a floor raiser. Looking at the assist leaders for who else does that.... in the top 10: Joker (can't really elevate someone playing his position), Bron (oh wait), maybe CP (much less so these days), maybe Haliburton, and too soon to tell with Cade.
