Also, adding Luka is like one of the most prized assets in the league right now outside of Wemby (although, he's dealing with a serious blood clot and that stuff can get tricky) and MAYBE Jokic because Joker is older at age 30.

If it doesn't work out with Luka, the Lakers are in a position where they can get a massive haul unlike anything we've ever seen by trading Luka.

AD at age 31 wasn't going to do that.

At the very least, championship or no championship, the Lakers future is much better with Luka on the team as a safety measure.

 

Dominant 4th quarter--16 points on 7/9 FGs. To be pick your spots and coast for 3 quarters and then have the best dial turner in the game able to ratchet it up to the needed level in the 4th...what a luxury the addition of Luka was last night and will continue to be in this aspect...well, in all aspects really.

He played 37 minutes. I get it was a special game and we wanted the dub for Luka but hope we get it to 30-32 for the remainder of the regular season, especially while we are healthy.
Would only go above that against West playoff teams as it may impact seeding. Not only we gain distance on them, it also makes those teams more desperate for future wins, and therefore reaching the playoffs more tired, as it has been happening to us in the last years

There’s times now by design for certain plays or looks on offense when LeBron hustles down to a sideline corner …. like he’s just waiting in case anyone wants to hit him with a pass.

 

I'd love to reduce LeBron's minutes too, but I'm not sure it happens. Ham tried it early last year and LeBron pushed back. Part of that was probably the team not being good enough to afford reducing LeBron's minutes, but I think part of it is also LeBron wanting to play X amount of minutes, having his preferred substitution pattern, etc.

Compared to last year, it would be huge if we could stay out of the play-in and get almost a week off before the first round. We've seen what LeBron can look like physically if he gets that much time off. This is getting way ahead of ourselves, but if we could get that week off before the playoffs and then win a first round series relatively quickly, I think that would be worth LeBron logging mid 30s minutes in regular season games.

Saw a video on twitter with Wade talking about when he first thought LeBron was going to leave Miami. Said that he eats cookies and ice cream on the plane after every game and Pat Riley took away his cookies… it’s a funny video and an interesting look behind the curtain.

But… now we got one superstar smoking hookah and drinking beer, and the other one is drinking wine and eating cookies and ice cream.

Where has the professionalism gone in the NBA? Should we trade both of these guys?

I’m still curious what he is actually smoking. Is it some incredible gourmet tobacco or what? Hookah is the generic term for the device, basically fancy water pipes.

 

Well said. I think it was maybe the most no brainer trade in NBA history, and we traded a first ballot HOF'er in his prime.

LeBron is age 40 putting up numbers that players about half his age would dream of putting up.

Just for perspective, as good as Luka is, he wouldn't even be doing half of what LeBron is doing at this age.

LeBron is special, man. I just saw a stat... since turning 40, LeBron is averaging 26/8/9 on 55% FG% and 44% 3FG%.

Umm no one would so I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make here.

 

The thing with LeBron and his minutes is he needs to be the one to call how many he plays. He needs to stay in game shape and knows what he needs to do it. I can't think of another such fined tuned athlete in NBA ever. I don't pay much attention to numbers as they can be so easily skewed but the eye test is telling me the best LeBron has played since the championship season. He wants Bronny to have a championship so he is going to get us one.
