It's a fair criticism of Luka. Look at his highlights from the bubble and how he was moving back then. If he could get back to something close to that fitness level, I think he'd be the best player in the world given how his game has grown since then.

You can't possibly compare Jokic to Luka's trajectory.

Jokic is a big who can bang on the post. You're not expecting Jokic to chase guards around the way Luka unfortunately would have to do by nature of his position.

Plus, Jokic came into the league as an unknown player and has improved every year so there's trust already built into him.

Luka was a pro since he was a young teenager and has gotten chunkier.

Then you add in the fact that Jokic doesn't miss many games due to injuries. He's almost always healthy. Luka is still way too young to be dealing with nagging injuries here and there.

It's fair for a team to question Luka's dedication and it not aligning with what they're expecting of him. If the Lakers can't win a title in the next 3 years with Luka and he looks unhealthy/gets injured, are we not supposed to believe that the Lakers wouldn't consider trading him? I think they would.

And c'mon, the dude DOES look chunky for his frame. Him dropping some weight could elevate his game further. He can slide around better, attack the basket quicker, etc., That's all everyone is saying. Of course we're not saying he isn't an amazing player.

Definitely an off shooting night for Luka. Having an off night and still putting up a monster triple-double is elite level s***. He admitted during the post-game how strange it all was, how he didn't sleep the night before and all that is understandable considering how it everything happened.

I did think he was well on his way to 60 after this though:

That moment was really all we got. Kidd decided to throw the entire 5 man group at Luka. You never see a triple team on a Bron teammate and Bron WIDE the F open on purpose. And it wasn't just once. It wasn't a missed rotation, someone like Russ didn't glitch on D, no the orders from upstairs were clear ANYONE but Luka!

Thought bubble reads something like "f*** you, Nico"

Regarding the hooka and the alcohol, I do not care. A beaten down Luka carried them to the Finals. He's been a top 3 player year in and year out. IN THIS STATE/CONDITION. Can he get better with some of the BMI stuff? yes. He's younger than Austin. Let's sit with that for a minute. I think he'll dial it back a bit in the next couple years. His dad was impressed by Bron day one. Luka is going to take some pointers and inspiration from the King. Just look at the quote pulled from the post-game interview

But you don't want him to drop too much of his "baby fat" because his mass is what allows him to move players around on the court, how he gets his spots, and knocks guys off balance. Sure you can do that with muscle mass, but he's not ever going to transform into that body type.

    :LLLLLebronlaughing:

Can we talk about the bad whistle for a minute?

If the ref blows an obvious call, I think 1) the tech should wiped away once it's reviewed after the game. 2) The should owe you one...like the 3 of his they took away. They owed him that after that terrible missed call.

Unfortunately fixing bad habits is difficult. I've never seen a NBA player drastically change their physique midway through their career.

I don't think Luka will change until it threaten his career. (by then it's usually too late) He's found too much success early on, doing what he does.

I'd like to think we have a prime Luka for 6-7 more years though. Probably not 10+ years unless he builds a healthy lifestyle.

Is there a video/interview, or article from Sasa Doncic? I have never seen it.

The no calls are insane. The ref is right f***ing there, 5 feet away... what the hell is he looking at? Because sure as hell he's not watching the game. If Silver had any balls, fined these crooks from time to time (for repeated/obvious bad calls), we would have a much better product on the floor.

There's a few in this thread somewhere. There's The Athletic (?) article that ran about him being impressed by watching Bron's first practice. And he did a few TV interviews with one of their local networks, with subtitles.

    I'll do some scrolling later.

You seem to be assuming a lot here and projecting various feelings.

The word was it wasn’t the official sponsor beer, so they took it away from him when they saw the camera was rolling. Finley gave it back to him in a cup.

Charles Barkley is the only one I can think of after Moses Malone talked to him. He transformed from the Round Mound to a decently fit player. But, your point is valid. It's extremely rare. Players are either dedicated to fitness or they are not. It's a character thing. I think Luka will get in good shape this year to prove a point to the Mavs, but his conditioning will probably never be great for his career.

I’m already tired of the shade thrown towards our new Franchise Player.
We are by far, the most spoiled fans in the entire world, throughout any sport.
Sure, he could take his fitness more seriously, but I think we should cool the boisterous worry until his “fatness” becomes a reason we lose a series. The guy just took his team to the Finals a few months ago while his fitness being “such a big problem.”

To be clear, from my POV, I'm joking about his weight mostly ironically. 'Cuz he's still just so effing great.

But un-ironically: yea: it's difficult to not see all those missed games due to calf strains in which his weight probably played a strong contributing factor. One more calf strain, as a Laker, and we all know it will remain an ISSUE. Until then, his game is some freakin' sick-azzed jit, man.

"Hookah Doncic"! Hilarious! Lebron is a known cannabis user, which is just another thing me 'n him have in common.

The beer doesn't help the weight issue, but I don't see it as a big deal. I'd rather #77 just worked out half as hard as Bron, and then smoked and drank as much as he wanted to.

Awesome!! Thank you. I need to find the one where Sasa talks about LeBron! But this is so cool to see and hear, especially since it’s such a recent interview. I hope our Laker players and brass continue to embrace Luka, his dad, and his whole inner circle.

I still, to this day, cannot believe we have LUKA DONCIC!!!!!!! I cannot wait for my jersey to come. I took a peek at Lakers tickets for the next couple of home games (I haven’t been to Crypto.com Arena), and I noticed there is some “section B” or some strange section I’m not used to see right before the “nosebleed 300” section. I normally sit in PR, or 200s section bc I’m near-sighted, and I refuse to watch a Jumbotron for a live game. Man, these tickets were easily 400+ if I wanted to sit in the “middle” sections… lol

I’m still on the Laker season ticket waitlist since 2016 I believe the year was. I have hardly moved since LeBron came, and so many renewals will probably continue with Luka here.
