    Led our team in rebounding

    :ADGlance:

On one hand, it’s a positive, but it’s also embarrassing

I think he looks fine. A lot of his shots were rimming out. And the turnovers are expected with a new team. He'll turn the corner in a couple of games

he takes a long time to get right after layoffs. i said in the other thread maybe he should be sitting, but i guess his MO is to play himself back into shape/rhythm. when he's not, there will be games like this, though.

You're in trouble as a team if you have to double the POA defensively .. This is the long term concern .

i'll only be concerned if luka shows up next fall looking the same. he's coming off his first extended absence in his career--on the heels of carrying a team to the finals with the injury that is still affecting him.

the good news is that this injury isn't the kind that typically has long-term impact.

it's a little reminiscent of how people were writing off AD after his injuries following the ring. he just needed some time to get right, and luka does, too. it may not happen this year--though it's not out of the realm of possibility, imo.

He looks pretty awful so far. Hopefully he plays himself back into a groove.

I am all for him trying to play himself in shape right now. The shots will fall. He wasn't good last night (to be fair, everyone was absolutely awful, except Dorian, who performed as expected), but he still had near triple double. His shots were not short or anything, he just needs to find his rhythm. But I do agree with abeer; this year he'll do what he can and will slowly improve, but next season he has to be in great shape and show everyone that he is really serious about being our next superstar. That absolutely has to happen.

Yes, he's not in shape. Yet, almost had a triple double being "pretty awful" so I'm not concerned.
He's a very special player, he draws so much attention and is so creative, that he's always impacting the team. I want in the best shape when it matters, so I want him playing every possible game because a) he needs to improve his shape and b) get acquainted with our system and other players

I can’t really remember LeBron hitting a game winning or tying 3 for us at the buzzer. Luka could have been 0-40 shooting on the night and I’d still want him taking the last shot over Bron. Hell I’d want Reaves or DFS taking the last shot over Bron.

Fat, out of breath, rusty, unfamiliar with the system Luka nearly had a triple double playing at his worst.

If bonehead, I mean AR, hadn't gotten tossed we win that game and this is an entirely different conversation. Luka will be himself by playoff time. If we have Luka, LeBron and AR healthy we will be reading some good doom for a long time. Luka's defense will be much less of a concern when he is dismantling teams on the other end.

No sweat … JJ just tells AR “Hey numbnuts you cost us last night’s game so tonight we need a 40+ real triple double out of you to beat Portland.”
