Yeah, also sucks for the fans who paid money expecting to see him.

It is what it is. If it was a regular season game, he'd be playing probably.

I want to pile on, but I’m happy he has his priorities straight. He cares more about being ready for the rest of the season.

Wasn't there a rule change a couple years ago, that if you could not play in the ASG because of an injury, you were not allowed to play the next one/two reg season games?
I guess it doesn't exist anymore, right?

Ehh I don’t care. LeBron made a smart decision prioritizing resting the man is trying to win his 5th championship.

Probably bow'd out when he saw how stupid and (bleep) it was and bounced.

So LeBron is selfish according to the national media for missing the ASG and the late announcement, but Anthony Edwards did the same thing. No such criticism. So hypocritical and such a double standard.

If Bron had pulled out days ago he'd still be criticised anyway. They will find a way to blame him for players not taking it seriously

As a Laker fan am glad he's resting

The league probably preferred that he be around but not play in the game to replacing him with Sabonis or whomever. This also tells me LeBron will be playing at least one more season, which we all already assumed but this probably confirms it. Even if his ankle was bothering him, I don't think he'd skip his last All-Star Game.

LeBron is making his big push, as he should, for the championship this year. Blocking out all the noise. He is going to make a surprise retirement after this season is over.

his numbers are pretty absurd for a guy this age. Interesting theory on retiring, but from what we know about Bron and love for admiration and controlling the narrative, do we REALLY think he would pass up an opportunity for a well publicized farewell tour?

    "Lebronshame"

Me thinks no. I think he plays if he's healthy, winning, having fun, and is able to put some records out of reach for a very long time. (Points and TO's.)

Yeah, he's not going out without the entire league and every area giving him a year of flowers and tributes. Only way he goes out early is if injuries step in.

I think that decision probably gets made this offseason depending on how he's feeling or early to mid next season, but I think at this rate, it's clear he could contribute sans injury for 2 years.

And that's before Luka greatly lightens his on ball responsibilities. If we get Team USA Bron, playing more of that Dray Green role... just not dirty, he might be playing until Bronny has a son and he joins both of them.

i just said next year because how long has this foot thing been going on? it's got to be constant treatment and management, and that has to be pretty exhausting, mentally.

i agree that we might be able to preserve him a bit more with luka in the fold, but i'll believe in a reduced lebron role when i see it. we're on our third coach since pretty much everyone agreed that we needed to get his minutes down, and he's still at nearly 35 per game.

i'd love to get that number down to 28 or so.
