    Will practice 5-on-5 Wednesday
    February 4, 2025
Doncic (calf) is considered day-to-day and will go through a 5-on-5 practice Wednesday, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.

Doncic, who has been sidelined since suffering a left calf strain Christmas Day, is currently working through a "return-to-play plan" and is expected back soon. The Lakers will see how he feels after Wednesday's practice, and a return against the Warriors on Thursday hasn't been ruled out yet

I forgot ATL brought in the other guy to play 1st and let Freddie walk. Thank you for the correction. That being said, yes my point was about being blindsided by the move and giving his all to the Braves. They essentially dumped a dude who just won the WS MVP with a jacked ankle and a fractured rib.

The Mavs pretty much have done the same to Luka. You can tell he loved being there and never imagined not playing there. Like Freddie, he is in shock. And, like Freddie, it will take a bit for him to settle into the new space mentally and, more importantly, emotionally. However, I def expect him to ball his a** off because, like Freddie, dude is a baller.

You could tell that Dallas trading him really hurt him. He’s going to be lazer focused to prove them wrong, which is great for us.

I don't think we have to worry about the "embrace being a Laker" part to be honest. LA and (ugh) Boston are NBA royalty as players go. Luka will have so much more opportunity on and off the court here it will be insane. Plus, I think Dallas kinda shi****g on him (calling him fat and all) will motivate him to prove it even more. He has a chance to be a Lakers great in a community that already loves LA King's captain Kopitar.

I think there is a reason Kobe loved this kid. He has that Mamba Mentality. A win in Dallas means something. A win in LA means way more. Proving you are the man in LA...... As the great Vicinni said, "it's Inconceivable"

My reaction seeing Luka live at the presser after reading all the accounts of him being a 270lb butterball:

Jokes aside, I don't think it's the weight. Saying someone is 270lb is the simplest way to convey a message to a d******.

It's lack of conditioning that leads to recurring injuries. In Luka's case it's the calf. And he needs to get serious about it.

    it came with the frame.

i think he's already embraced being a laker, tbh. he just still can't believe it happened.

the major downside for us is that his mavs experience will probably make him more cautious to trust us--that and the fact we did the same thing to AD that dallas did to him.

hopefully, lebron is in his ear with positive things about his experience here, and hopefully we win enough and his family loves la.

i still can't wrap my mind around how spoiled we are right now. going from AD's prime to luka's prime with lebron there for all of it. wild. totally insane.

Maybe he's just thinking about the additional injury added to insult of the pay cut he now takes with 13.4% highest personal income tax in the nation for incomes over 1M and I think even a surcharge on top for some cause .... coming from none in TX. Plus like 1/3 the value of whatever he can sell his new house in Dallas for .... for something in the same class in LA in the first place and exacerbated now with the fires.

Not really ;) .... but has to be also on his mind.

I think many of us forget that these are real people with real feelings. I don’t blame him one second for being bummed. He will get over it very soon. Once he plays, and wins, his first game in a Laker uni, I think he’ll be half way there.

His demeanor reminds me of Odom's when he was traded to Dallas. We have James who can light a fire under him again. Shame 24 isn't around 'cos he would tell him what it's like to wear The Golden Armor. It is NOT for everyone.

I joke about the hugs from Jeanie but Luka is going to like her and he will definitely feel the history with the 17 trophies up on the window sill in her office and the banners hanging above all visible from the practice floor.

Boy..Dallas really said f*** you to Luka. They could have gave him that extension and then traded him. Folks would have still been fighting over the right to land him.

No..they traded him and cost him 131M in the process. He was up for a 5 year 350M dollar extension, the most he can get now is 5 years 219M. And he went from no state income tax, to 13% in California. His potential salary just got cut in half. Damn..that was a cold blooded move on their part.

Lord I know that hit him like a ton of bricks. They said he cried after finding out, that he had been traded. I can believe it.

I'm sure he's going to be highly obsessed, with kicking the Mavs a**** for the rest of his career.

Not worried. Luka said he’s excited to be a Laker that’s enough for me. Only thing I’m worried about is that calf injury. Let’s make sure we’re extra cautious with that.

Have to like the part about he's looking forward to learning from LBJ

Hopefully part of it is about staying in shape to extend your career

And what a privilege it is to play for the Lakers and how they treat their players
