it would be a mistake to get Williams now IMO. It would be one thing to pair him with AD and play 2 bigs 15-20 mins per game, but now we need a center that can play 30 minutes per game, that is just not Robert Williams. He'll be injured again in no time and we'll be stuck with Hayes again.

One week ago, I had no interest in including Knecth is a trade for Kessler. Now? I'd have to seriously consider Dalton + 1st for Kessler. I'm still a big Dalton fan, but his defense has given reason to slow the breaks. Offensively he's cooled off, but I'm not overly concerned with that in his rookie season. I'm not even THAT high on Kessler, but we clearly need a center and if that suggested offer can get a young 10/10 guy with rim protection that fills a huge need now while also matching the future timeline, it might be hard to pass up.

This allows you to keep Rui for some offensive punch off the bench. Or maybe there's a wild card deal where they could turn him + a 2nd into Vuc. No interest in Vuc as our starting Center, but I'd be interested in him leading the 2nd unit behind Kessler.

Alternatively, a deal with Atlanta with some iteration of Rui for Capela would work, but as abeer pointed out, we can't say if they'd want Rui to fill in for Johnson or want the cleaner books.

Anyone who's more familiar with the new CBA know if Kleber can be included in a trade before the deadline? Feel like the old days you had to hold onto guys for a certain amount of time before trading again, but thought I read yesterday that he can be traded again.

Kleber can be traded alone but not combined with another player

Already rethinking this lol. The two teams I'm looking at as the primary competition for the next 10 years with Luka are the Thunder and Spurs. Both teams already have more pieces that fit the timeline of their main guy than we do. Austin is a bit redundant right now with Luka and LeBron, but whenever LeBron moves on/as he declines further Austin becomes more important again.

He hasn't played at all this year and hasn't even been cleared for contact yet. Prefer other targets.

not a fan either, similar health issues to Robert Williams and horrible FT shooter. These type of guys can't withstand 30+ minutes of playoff basketball per game.

I really like Robinson when healthy, but he often isn't. He might be the best talent realistically available to us though. I think Turner and Kessler are off the board (if they were ever on it) now that we're down a pick. Claxton is the most interesting to me because I like his switchability. I like Robinson and would be happy if we got him, but I'd still want another center better than Hayes. I also think the Knicks want to see what him and KAT together looks like.

    Agreed.
Out of the names bandied about, I would prefer Claxton.
I like Robinson a lot, but not sure if I would gamble on his health if I were Rob.
We may just have to run with a stopgap (not Hayes) until our next starting C becomes available.

Claxton seems like a good piece for the future, but I get the feeling Brooklyn won't take Rui + Knecht + pick and will ask for Austin.

    I'd love to keep Austin

I'm not sending Austin out in a Claxton deal unless we somehow get Cam Johnson too. And I don't know if we have the salaries to make that work.

Claxton’s 220lbs right? Does he do any better holding his ground against BIGs than Hayes or Koloko?

Pass. I'm still looking at Vucevic, Turner or Capela. Capela so we can trade him, to Indiana for Turner. Nobody is untouchable in the NBA...we just landed Luka!! So pony up that FRP, and Rui and whatever, and make an offer for Turner Rob. If they say no, fine, Vucevic is still a high end 5, on an expiring contract next season. He's the next best thing, and the Chicago Bulls are complete idiots, we might get him for a single second rd pick.
