Well... the upside is -- we all will have a front seat to how much I am wrong.

I doubt it, but we will see.

In other words Dallas did not trust Luka. I mean, it says a lot to me that they would trade their franchise player away. And not good things.

Overall, I feel like AD is severely underrated considering the high level of basketball he continually brings. Too bad to see him go. I was definitely looking forward to seeing his jersey retired in the rafters.

Well, I guess I've said my peace. Don't like the trade at all. But here we go, new Luka era of the Lakers. Rob better get busy because while this roster had holes in it before it now looks like Swiss cheese. Just no way in hell this team is a contender now without two of our best defenders.

That city loved him. Part of why I never thought he’d be traded.

Finding out he didn’t even ask to be traded and there was no real behind the scenes drama is making it worse for them and I get it.

I have to disagree. It can be about both. Jeanie strives to follow her Dad's example. The Lakers have always been superstar driven. It has produced an excessive number of championships and an excessive amount of money. Baylor / West / Wilt / Kareem / Magic / Shaq / Kobe / Lebron / AD? - No, Luka

It's a move her Dad would have made. It makes the most sense for the next ten years. This year, who knows. We might suck, but the team played two of its best games of the year with AD sitting out and then you add Luka to that mix.

I loved AD, and do consider him the best all around center in the league. Jokic overshadows him on offense but will never have AD's impact on D. I already miss him. But I am 1000% behind this move and am super excited to see how the new roster jells.

I would say a majority of the reaction so far is positive, but a lot reminds me of the LeBron signing. Lots of people were against it for our future build. Sorry, but BI, Lonzo, Hart, etc wasn't winning jack (Zubac still hurts, though)...

    Key points to remember:

    - True, first ballot Hall of Famers win titles
    - Luka has shown he can get there
    - Bigs break down faster. AD is 6 years older than Luka
    - We had not shot to win the title this year
    - We now have a future

What world am i living in right now? We just got a guy who is prolly the 3rd best player in the NBA and only 25 and some of you are pissed off about that? We gave up a 31 year old awesome AD but it's an AD at the end of his prime and even though he's still a top 10 nba player and top 2 defensive player but he's this good for how long? 2 or maybe 3 years tops? After that then what? Lottery? U think any top free agents are comin to play with a 35 year old AD as opposed to a 29 still in his prime Luka? What else did we give up? A nice role player in Christie but players like him are a dime a dozen and then just 1 pick and that's it. Thats it guys. We still have an unprotected 1st round pick plus salary filler guys like Kleiber to go after a big man or whoever else.

He's fat, he cant play D? He's fat and still a top 3 player in the NBA. I need what some of you guys are smoking if anyone think this a bad deal. We are rolling the dice on a 25 year old superstar as opposed to a 31 year old at the end of his prime Center who doesn't want to play Center. I love AD too but this argument is utterly ridiculous.

Luka is something like 9-10 against the nuggets and dang near averages a triple double against them, maybe we will stop getting pounded by them every game.

Let’s see how great Fat Luka is with no big to help him out , reminder we didn’t get any in this trade and we haven’t been good without a big
Last time we were was in the bubble with 2 solid role player bigs in Howard and McGee

Lots of old-skool members popping in to say “wow” and just having to post something. Me included. Says something. THIS is monumental -especially for us who appreciate Bron for his amazing longevity and talent but still don’t love a lot of what he brings. AD under appreciated, for sure.

Like many said - if I could choose ANY player (fantasy time) for the Lakers to build around and just put him on the team it would be Luka. Wemby is making a case. But Luka has proven a lot already. Joker would be the 1-B.

In the last 25 years - I would only take 25 year old Kobe or Bron over Luka. That’s it. Not prime KD, Steph, Dirk, Giannis, Tatum, Timmy, KG, CP3, SGA, Wade, Kawhi…. And I would have given the other pick and AR and DK too if we had to.

Exciting. And…I am not hating what JJ has done either.

As a lifelong laker fan I already do
We get an amazing offense player who has to have the ball in his hands but couldn’t stop Bronny from getting to the rim and lose another great player who doesn’t need the ball and protects the rim , rebounds and scores

I get the trade. AD has been relatively healthy for the last two seasons, but is that the exception or the new norm? At almost 32, I can't be convinced it's the new norm.

Its also risky to get Luka. I think he'll probably come into camp next season with his "revenge bod," and Lebron will get him to take his fitness seriously for a season, but we've had an unbelievably talented, lazy player before. Luka is not all of a sudden going to change who he is as a person. I do not foresee him becoming the consummate professional for the rest of his career due to this slight. I see him coming in for a season like Shaq did in his first season in Miami, but we'll be back to fat, lazy Luka soon after.

Ultimately, it flushes this season down the toilet unless Rob can get an elite rim protector with no assets in the next 4 days. But if we're being serious, we probably had a less than 5% chance of winning a title this season, and with two aging superstars and no cap room, that small percentage was only going to go down in the coming seasons.

Never a good sign when your boss laughs at your idea.

Valid points but we need a big
I don’t believe we can do it without one
    The trade to set us
valid points but we need a big
I get that it potentially set us up for the future but we need to get a solid big
