jj trying to be the smartest guy in the room lately why are you bringing in bronny off the bench before knecht?
Yeah I have no idea what the hell he was thinking there. The crowd smelled blood, and Maxey just attacked him. Kid is not ready for real game action, and especially not on the road in Philly.
Cause they're short handed and Shake was turrable against Charlotte. Team didn't have legs after last night. Austin didn't have the next gear to go to. Max was bad. It was worth a shot. Without Vando, with DFS on minute restriction, and it being Rui's first game back you needed DK to be used as a bigger forward.
I get that Shake was awful, but I still don’t go to Bronny there, he’s not ready. Shake has at least been here before and can handle that spot
I have no idea what JJ was doing with his lineups this game: even before the AD injury without Gabe he taking out both Reaves and Lebron at the same time basically caused the Laker offense to completely collapse which led to the 76ers getting stops and easy buckets. I get trying to play Bronny but not matching christie to Maxey's minutes was awful
Why? On paper, sure. Maxey was averaging over 1 point per minute regardless of who was on him until the wheels completely fell off. No one on this roster was doing anything to even make him work for a bucket. Both on the perimeter, in the post and then when we were on offense he was essentially a strong safety jumping the passing route.
Maxey made 2 buckets before Bronny came in which were nothing special then when Bronny came he saw barbequed chicken and just put his head down and started attacking the basket. He totally got hot with that switch up and you could see it watching the game. He's too good of a player to open the floodgates for
I think too much is being made of JJ playing Bronny. Everybody was dead tired, injured or coming back from injury. Shake has been bad and Bronny just scored 30 in the G league if I remember correctly. JJ tried something and it didn’t work. That was all to me.
This is already being discussed in NBA Discussion and the trade thread, but JJ is not a fan of shortening the quarters He is a fan of road 'stache The wife... she's not a fan Speaking of things JJ likes... his job It's aged him a good 5 years, post game he looks quite deflated and he's tried to kill Dalton. But good to hear he's still enjoying year 1 through all the ups and downs.
i actually think he's got the goods, and that he's a better hire than hurley or anyone since phil the second time. i'm comfortable with him moving into the post lebron era.
I almost think that he knew the team was going to come out super flat in that game so he wanted to see if we could get a jolt of energy from someone. Had Bronny made a couple shots and gotten a couple of stops on Maxey the Laker fans there would've gotten into it and our guys could start feeding off of it. Alas, it didn't happen.
I don't have a problem with him playing Bronny...I have a problem with Bronny being first guard off the bench ahead of Shake and Knecht. But as a result...looks like Shake woke up tonight and had his best game as a Laker as a result of JJ benching him last game against a team that he played for previously. I think the response from Shake Milton was great tonight. As a result...we also got a better version of Bronny tonight when he wasn't thrown into a bad situation. We need to get more blowout wins to get Bronny some on court time because I do think it's valuable for him to get out there against NBA competition. Although I wouldn't call the Wizards NBA comp...the guys he was playing against were G-league level guys lol This time being 27-19 and a half game out of 4th at this point in the season is not something I predicted...so JJ has been a good hire so far. He's still learning and still makes mistakes or doesn't play the right guys or plays nonsensical rotations sometimes...but overall, I think he's got the team's respect and I don't think Hurley or anyone else woulda been better
yeah, don't love the timing of road games against ny and the clips without AD happening during the last bit of negotiations, but getting well over .500 heading into it definitely helps. interested to see how jj plays the next two games given that we're heavy underdogs in both. is he going to lean into smallball (almost has to?)? if so, how? more DFS and vando at center? or rui or lebron?
He’s gotten the best out of Austin we’ve seen so far, he’s gotten something out of Max when last year we got nothing, LeBron is engaged most nights now, 28-19 when last year we were 24-23, so far so good
Where you been?? You weren’t even here to bask in the emergence of Max and now he’s gone. Oh and this guy too.
