I'm pretty sure a three year deal means we signed him with cap space. Wow. So yeah. I think you're right @RandleROFY . Although it's unclear how much the deal is worth.
Holy crap.... really? They must know they have a money shooter since he's not athletic and rydorker (sp) on CL killed him there and on defense. Then again I think he really hits too hard sometimes. Guys I was thinking looked pretty good, but I always deferred mentally. Seems to know what he is talking about.
WOW. Suddenly my interest is piqued. I thought honestly he might not stick on the team, but this is pretty telling. They must really like what they see in him. Maybe THAT'S why we're not worried about getting any other SFs.
It's them "crazy eyes" you noticed... Seriously, I'm intrigued how Brown will be worked in the offense. He can shoot and is willing to work defensively...unlike the last small forward we had around here who convinced everyone that he could.
You know I wonder how conversations went with Wes Johnson. I was so excited about him because I figured he'd be an awesome fit as a 3 & D and he thought he was too good for that... We even brought up a comparison of Michael Cooper and he didn't embrace it. You're too cool to be Michael Cooper? Well goodbye then. Hopefully Anthony Brown proves to have a better head on his shoulders.
Johnson is a good salesman then... He's all of these characters combined: A damn shame for all of that God-given physical attributes... For all of his faults, I'd take Matt Barnes over him seven days a week and twice on Sundays. He's somebody else's frustration now.
If Thibs can turn Ray Allen and Paul Pierce into capable team defenders than surely Byron can... Hopefully Byron is just a stop-gap coach until Thibs is available.
That's not a ridiculous increase, or a lot by NBA standards, not even 200K. Good for him though, I'm sure that IS a huge increase to a rookie. I'm very surprised by a 3 year deal for a 2nd round pick with the first 2 years guaranteed, before one summer league game has been been played. I could be extremely wrong and we could often sign 2nd rounders to guaranteed deals for a year this early all the time, but I don't remember it happening this soon before off the top of my head. I guess I have to assume we see something in him, or we're trying to dump Nick Young, I don't really get it on the surface.
Not surprised...if Sacre and Kelly can get 1 mio., then certainly Brown can get 700k. or 800k... with the increase expected in salary cap overall, thats chump change and it really doesn't require a "ton of confidence".
