giving away first rounders for zion would send this franchise back further than the cp3 veto did

aside from his injury and weight issues, he hasn't even come close to proving that he's got what it takes to be a winning player. lebron can keep guys in check, but you can't fix a loser mentality

If you're David Stern err Silver you're job is to get Zion head straight and into a market that can carry the league. Do you really want another situation like post MJ where you had this electric player VC was in Canada and just sitting in his laurels?

From a pure talent standpoint Zion is the only American you know who could legitimately complete for the best player in the world and you're looking at league wide consequences if you don't have any American s/p the long Lebron twilight and Steph/AD are gone

Tim Thomas and Trevor Ariza in contract years I kid I kid.

Zion is really young both Draymond and Haslem were fat in college and upper class men and lost a lot of weight when they got into the NBA

Zion could be Barkley 2.0 if he love basketball like Charles did….but he doesn’t

Who woulda thunk it .... Iron Man Wemby? 103 games played out of 119 so far. 71 of 82 last year at 7'3" 210lbs as a rookie and 32 of 37 so far this season = 86%. But I'm talkin' "pumping iron Wemby". In one year 210 >> 235lbs.

But oh hell yeah let's concentrate on yet another "special" wing or guard to compete now and next 5 years .... who needs a 23 year old Walker Kessler (that's gettable) with a couple picks to at least try to stay in the same zip code with teams that have legit 7' and bigger centers in the league going forward. Maybe we could get his 245lb frame on a similar program, but it would sure be a start to help out AD now and for when he is done here.

Yeah .... in addition to counter argument to the two way wings and guards obsessed crowd (when we have currently with Vando coming back and Max stepping up plus DFS here now) some really good perimeter defense to roll out there, with plenty of offensive options to mix in ...... I wanted to give VISUALS to perennially glass empty-half empty @Khmrp to help him understand. ;)

what if it was rui/gabe/vando/top-5 protected 2026 swap/top-10 protected 2029 pick?

only one pick post-lebron era is gone then for a chance to rehab a generational talent.

anyway, doesn't matter...can't see NO trading us another player of that caliber. they'd probably rather send him anywhere else.

Zion contract is team friendly: lots of out clauses I believe for weight/games played. However I agree Griffin would probably take a worse deal then trade him to LAL.

Still the Lakers need someone to replace Dlo offensive production (that he gave at least in the regular season). Kessler moves allows you to make another one but a guy like Lavine is just too hard to match now contract wise s/p Dlo trade. Sexton is a bunch of meh for me but not sure who else would be available

Zion is going to net 2-3 FRP. Folks will talk down about him all they want, but once he's actually on the trading block, you will probably be surprised at how many teams, will be willing to roll the dice, on that level of talent.

yep. he's only failed in one place. teams will believe their organization/culture can fix him.

i'd be willing to try it if it were realistic.

Tempting to throw one pick and the protections for Kessler and then throw Rui and another pick and probably Knecht for Cam Johnson. You could have one hell of a rotation there AD/Lebron/Reaves/Johnson/Kessler/DFS/Max/Gabe/Vando/Milton. Damn good team there except not a lot of dribble penetration outside of Reaves and Lebron

Zion has already proven to the World that he doesn’t have the mental capacity, determination, nor ability to stay healthy to be the face of the NBA.
LeBron is all of a sudden going to adapt the savvy intelligence of Phil Jackson to somehow motivate Zion into changing his entire philosophy?
    I don’t buy it.
Zion doesn’t care about being a great.

possibly...probably. but i think he does care about another 100 million dollars. his contract is structured such that if he eats himself out of the league, he could lose a lot of money.

I have the feeling that our FO sees Knecht becoming nearly as valuable as Austin has become in a few short seasons.
I’m not saying their skill sets will be comparable. Knecht, with some growth can be a starter, or high level sixth man in a couple of years.
You don’t throw that away for someone who may only be around short term. We’re talking about a player who can be a rotation piece for the next 10 seasons. I have zero interest in going through another Zubac debacle.

zubac wasn't traded for a guy who was all-nba when healthy. he was traded for a guy who was already bouncing from team to team as a 10th man.

Okay, but you would not only be gambling on that.
You would be taking an even worse bet that his body will hold up.
I just don’t think it will.
