Lakers finally got rid of DAR , now they have to get rid of Rui if they want to be serious about winning
This may be the game that seals it in my mind that we aren’t winning anything this year. I thought we had an outside chance with some moves made, but nah, we just don’t have modern NBA personnel. Vando/Wood aren’t fixing this, Reaves is not good enough on D, Rui is not a smart player, Knecht is not ready, Gabe is up and down, Hayes has regressed, and LeBron can only really play one half of the ball at most times at his age. Getting owned by Dinwiddie, Grimes, Hardy, Washington, it’s eye opening. We will be a play-in team as expected as we start to play better teams and drift back in the standings. Bad game for JJ too, they picked us apart all game and he was not able to adjust for it.
This game forced me to officially cancel my NBA League Pass subscription. Tired of getting my hopes up with them beating bad teams at home. Living on the east coast, shame on me for ever staying up late to watch this joke of a team that thinks they can coast through games against anyone.
Man just go get Vucevic, Turner, Kessler at a decent price, Valanciunas would help too. More guards or wings are NOT the solution.
This. unless the team is significantly altered at the deadline, we are a round 1 (maybe 2) exit at best.
This is why i basically don't follow this sorry a** team. Haven't seen a single game this season (a handful of games year prior). Beyond pathetic, im getting Swaggy P times vibes... with a hint of Ham and b0ron.
Good teams blow out bad teams, and win the close contests throughout the season. The blowouts pad the overall +/- stat that is actually a pretty good indicator of who the good teams are and who are the real championship contenders. Those teams rarely experience a blowout. We win close games against meh teams, get blown out on occasion, but do not blow other teams out. We are the definition of the middle of the road, and unless we make some significant changes, we are not a real contender. You can even get lucky and go on another WCF run, but in the end, you were just a pretender who never had what it took. These are you real contenders unless teams make significant changes at the trade deadline. Us? We deserve to be in 12th place or around there based upon our shoddy defense. The 20-16 record isn't fooling anyone.
bpi actually has us better than our record. i agree we're not a contender, but i'm not sure why people are surprised and offended about this. i'd argue we've played better amidst similar or worse injury problems to last year. the last game was awful, and the team showed zero interest in playing that game. that has happened on a couple other occasions this year, too, which sucks. however, we've been in most games and right around where i expected us to be at this point in the season. my wmc is that after watching that okc/cleveland game, i really came away thinking you can't compete without a lot more athleticism than we have. be curious to see how that plays out in the playoffs. several of the top regular season teams this year are very athletic (okc, houston, memphis, cleveland). sometimes that doesn't translate into the playoffs.
I agree with your point, but it would be difficult to get a lot more athletic. You can counteract that though by playing better defense. A frontcourt with good rim defense that beats the other team on the boards, counteracts the other team's athleticism. AD can't do it all by himself. DFS is already helping, and it shows, but we need a better big man, not just as an AD backup, but alongside him for some portion of the game. That's where Kessler comes in. AD could still play 2/3 of his minutes at C, and 1/3 at the 4 next to Kessler, and that would work well, as shown in the past, leading to a championship.
