JJ is getting the team to buy in on the defensive end and the results are 8 wins in the last 11. Nice to see.
Exactly. Anyone who watched all of last season, and were honest, could say that with everything that’s gone down, so far this season, Hambone would have been lucky to have this team at 14-19.
So far so good with JJ. I honestly feel like everyone should be breathing a sigh of relief and feel good about the job he’s doing so far.
He is doing a reasonably good job but like all jobs in sports, you are only as good as your last loss. You can go from a hero to a scrub in the blink of an eye.
He got a DUI as a college athlete in 2006. 19 years ago. He's on your jit list for that? He drank to excess, said he was lost and regretted it, had everything handed to him at Duke and felt miserable because it wasn't what he thought it would be, he was an immature jock with elite skills, and his sisters helped him get out of it. He's been very candid about it. The horror!: a college student with out-of-control drinking! So this is what it seems like to me: you look in the biography of a person, find them at their worst, then that's who they are, forever? And you must remind everyone of this every time you post something? Kewl. Would you want someone to judge you for your worst period of life, forever? JJ's lucky he didn't kill anyone driving. The report says 0.11 blood alcohol, which is buzzed, but not blind drunk. I should know: I got a DUI in 1985, and I was even drunker than JJ was. BTW: mute me for this. I really don't give a flying eff. 18 years ago. Redick had a really bad alcohol problem as a college student. And he's STILL "drunk boy" to you. Okay. I wonder what your real issues are. I get the feeling you're one of the 60 million Americans who have been traumatized by alcoholism in yourself, friends, or the family, but I'm just guessing. If so, I understand your problem with "drunks." But you're hardly being sober about this issue, from what I see. Your hatred for JJ Redick seems misplaced to me, but I'm ready to mute you, too, if only because it's the same thing over and over. Don't take this the wrong way, but it's boring. Do you have any...insights? Anything constructive, or even something new to say? Maybe a little not-angry humor? Have you ever forgiven someone, or do you use stuff like this as an excuse because you can't get your own creative life together? Holding on to emotions like this over a person you don't even know can be harmful to your health. I'm not tryna be a d*** here, but man: check in on your own life and see how you can make it better? Best of luck to you. Now mute me.
yeah, there tends to be a bit of undercurrent to both jj and some lebron detractors, and it's not about wine.
FWIW, I muted him a long time ago but every once in awhile, when there is too much chatter that I am not understanding, I turn the mutes off to see what the fuss is. At least you can do that around here.
20 and 14, 5th in the West is pretty darned good. Let’s see how we do in the Texas two step but so far I like how JJ has coached for the most part. As Weezy said, his willingness to utilize Max has been a revelation for the starting lineup and his trust in Reaves is really paying off. The team is buying in on the defensive end now and it’s great to see. If we can make one more roster move to improve we might just be a top 4 team in the West.
Ahh...I did a little bit of searching I hadn't done before...things seem clearer now. With some things I'm incredibly slow on the up-take. And about which no one wants to read about here. Thanks for (sorta) clarifying.
This is very true. I just think with JJ most of us expected us to be fighting to scrap our way into the play in game again. It's still possible for us to slip down the standings given how tight the West is, but for us to be tied for 5th right now is a win for a franchise. We at least shouldn't have to dig ourselves out of a huge hole after the all star break like we have the last couple of seasons.
It's on him the Max turnover. It's not the first time it happens. JJ has to do better. Doesn't even make sense to have Max inbounding. Hope it doesn't happen again and I liked it that the next one we had DFS. It's also not the first time we need a 3 and Dalton doesn't come in. In other instances, I remember Dalton wasn't playing well too. JJ seems to reward the guys who are playing better in that game, even for late plays. It's an understandable approach, and him as a player likely values it more, but I always think that just the respect Dalton commands opens the floor more than Max or DFS, using yesterday's example, not even mentioning the potential shot making ability. Just an interesting bit about JJ
The separation from 5th to 9th is only two games though. You can't afford to have a bad week in the West. JJ knows what time it is, he's the HC of the Lakers, it's the end of Lebron's run. He's going to be judged on playoffs performance. He already knows that his former colleagues in the TV world, aren't going to cut him any slack, if we don't make a strong run. Gotta give him credit for recognizing early, that the Tinkerbell experience just wasn't going to work. He moved swiftly and stood firm on it. That's encouraging. He needs to get Rui’s attention next. "If you just want to score, that's cool, we need that too" "You can do that coming off the bench" "If you want to stay in the starting lineup ", " You are going to have to pick it up in other areas, besides scoring ". All that DFS love JJ showed, should serve as the warning shot across his bow.
