More so than that it was ego and the Jerrys. They hated Phil, hated he got credit. Thought they could put anyone in that chair and the team they built would still win. They also undervalued the players loyalty to Phil. MJ said Phil goes, I'm out. They called the bluff of the man who's spent more time in the casino than all of today's players combined. We saw how that worked. They wanted their guy Tim Floyd in there. Saw how that went. 20% winning percentage over 3.5 years.

Bulls are odd. For sure. They zig when they should zag. They hold on to their assets for too long. Typically their goal is just to get into the playoffs to get that R1 revenue, but do so as cheaply as possible.

They also benefited from Pippen being on a terrible deal. Ironically Reinsdorf said that he told Scottie not to take it. Yet he sure held him to it.

We'll see here soon. Vucevic has been balling, might drive his price up.

or make them decide to keep him in very bulls fashion.

to me, valanciunas is the more gettable piece. the wiz suck and don't mind sucking right now. they signed him to trade him...somewhere. they have flexibility in what they can accept in return. for example, max for valanciunas looks good for them, imo, even with max not starting out great this year. but gabe and multiple seconds also looks good for them, for different reasons.

i don't think we have packages for chicago that look good for them.

On a more personal note, I do hate the fact, that the Rockets are looking half a** decent. I have a feeling that my brother is going to be in my wallet this season. Talking s*** the whole time while doing so. We need to make some moves.

I think Valanciunas was in the bag as soon as he signed in Washington. Lebron calling him out specifically, JJ jumping in with the bruiser at 5 stuff, Max's pay raise, recent trade history with us, everything points in that direction. He's not going to be the only move though.

I'm not selling Rui or Tinkerbell short for the Bulls interest though. Both would fit there, they might be eying a potential AD trade in a few years. They can build up some good will by sending us Vucevic. Like I said, those guys move to their own beat.

rockets look quite good, and i expected that (think it's on record here prior to the season). morey leaving really helped them make a better transition out of the harden era than most teams get to make when they lose stars, as the gm who moved him wasn't the gm who built the franchise around him.

but it took them some time to do all this. we'd need just as much time or more to build something similar.

i don't see the fit for dlo unless they move lavine, and even then, they'd still have dosunmu, white, and giddey eating up all the backcourt minutes.

rui makes some sense for them, as patrick williams is hurt a lot and is kind of a defensive version of rui, in theory. but again, i don't know why they'd want to downgrade in that way right now with no center coming back. if they want AD, they may just need to wait 6 months, lol.

Idk..They might send Russell on elsewhere. I saw a Golden State guy saying, that the Warriors were interested in Vucevic, and the word was that the Bulls were looking for an expiring contract, a young player and draft compensation. Maybe even a lotto protected FRP.

I wouldn't want to see him in Golden State. Most of the media cats, think he's definitely getting moved, but Lavine might not. It's going to get real interesting in a couple of weeks.

so the junk and 2nds stuff is already getting walked back. probably because someone called karnisovas instead of asking people he's dealing with, lol.

gs has more assets to get it done than we do, if they want him. good fit there, too.

known player on market + lakers + former connection = news.

and i'm guilty because i've speculated about this for months already, but i'm pretty sure this isn't plan A, B, or C, as the tweet indicates.

That was Warriors guy speculating, that's not getting a lot of airplay, but his play this season makes that sound reasonable. The Lakers/Warriors is the chatter though. Fisher hasn't back off, of the 2nds talk.

Not shooting the messenger here, but just wanted to say that if it’s coming from Jake Fischer, it’s not happening. Guy has never broken actual news in his life. No idea how he’s been able to fake being an NBA Insider into a career for so long.

Fair. Stein, for my money, is the most trusted name in the game. Stein hired Jake to contribute exclusive content to his substack. I trust his judgment.

I hear you and agree on Stein as a trusted source, but smart, talented people make bad hires all the time. In this case, it’s likely a smart business decision. I think 90% of “insiders” are a joke that aggregate headlines and message board fodder.

Don’t mean to digress because I do appreciate the effort to compile any and all NBA-related updates here. I’ve just had this bone to pick with Fischer for a while.

I just don’t see our FO investing $31 million in 2 centers when they haven’t invested more than like part of the mini-MLE on one in years. Every center we’ve had has been for the minimum or no more than 5 mil, the FO clearly doesn’t value the position at all. I could see us spending the 11 mil on Jonas, but not Vucevic as well.

That's the problem The guard/wing investments don't pan out. So the remedy is to pursue more guard/wings? Perhaps the team vision needs an adjustment.

I see that, you see that, many see that. But Bob Todd Pelinka is clearly a guard obsessed idiot. Being big at every position and focusing on defense first won us the 2020 title, and we’ve been going away from that pretty much every year since. There is no logical reason for that, so I have to assume Pelinka is just bad at his job, evidence is stronger than fancy words.
