If a 40 year old Lebron James, is consistently your 2nd best rebounder, problems are going to occur. We need more size

Right now I’d just like a guy who doesn’t become lemon booty when the pressure hits or the other team goes on a run.

I thought I heard reports that Lakers would only trade their 1st round picks for a superstar. I wonder what it would take to get KCP back. He is a role player, and is 31 years old, so a 1st seems a little rich for him. Orlando is still trying to win. I wonder if they would have interest in anything that we have? Rui has some value, and a team like Chicago might want him. I wonder if there is anything they could send to Orlando that would be to their liking?

Well, he is known to be a good defender. Lakers are bad at defense, and their best defender is injured. Lakers 21st in steals per game, 29th in fast break points allowed, 29th in opponents field goal percentage, 28th in opponents field goals made, 20th in opponents 3 PT %, 15th in opponent threes made, 24th in opponent points per game! KCP is one of the best at navigating screens. Fairly disruptive on D. Currently gets 1.6 steals and 0.7 blocks per 36, and usually gets around 2 deflections per game.

We got outrebounded by 16 boards and the solution remains, better perimeter defense? Against Denver specifically, he's not going to help with defending Jokic, Porter Jr or Gordon. We need more size, you know if you improve your rebounding, it also improves your team defense. One of the most common threads, in most of our losses, is that we got outworked on the boards.

I imagine that the Wizards, might be looking to attach Malcolm Brogdon, to a Valanciunas trade if they can.

Agreed. That is another major problem. We are 29th in rebounds with about 40 per game. We need to get to around 44-45 to be in the middle of the pack. The top rebounding team gets about 50. So, we need an addition 4-5 rebounds to be average. I would say Rui is a major problem here, as he gets only 6.3 per 36 minutes, and it's not like he lives on the perimeter. He is a low-volume three-point shooter. Russell on 3 per 36, Reaves 3.6 per 36. Max, surprisingly only 3.6 per 36, he was thought of as a good rebounding guard. Koloko only 7.4 per 36, which is bad for a big (albeit small sample size). So, we need to find a clever way to improve our rebounding without hurting our spacing. Jonas would be a start, but we are talking about a 13 minute per game back up center. I know he could kind of shoot, so maybe JJ gives him an additional 5-7 minutes or so in big line ups? This season, Jonas is getting 8 rebounds in 20 minutes! So he would be a great help. So basically, replace Koloko and 7 minutes of Rui with Jonas. Might be a 4 rebounds or so increase.

We need both honestly but I think we should bring in size first.

Yeah, but the tricky part is you don't want to give up too much for size because it's likely not going to be a high-minute player due to spacing concerns. Jonas might be best option available in terms of rebounding/3-pt shooting combination. Very, very low-volume shooting sample size, though. But, so was Brook when we let him walk. Might be ale to get away giving Jonas 26 minutes or so. Can't say the same about Kessler, though, who has no range to speak of, and he would be far more expensive. I just don't want to hear about giving up the farm for Kessler any more. Maybe route Kessler for a third team in a trade where we get a perimeter defender, like NAW for example.

i want to add size, but lebron will still be our second-leading rebounder, and that's not an issue, imo. and he better rebound if he's going to be so bad in transition defense and inconsistent in halfcourt defense.

i'm still where i was when the season started, though: we have to scratch and claw until trade season opens, then hope something good is available. we were always a play-in team, new coach or not. i've never said anything different. the only thing that's changed for me through 15 games is that i don't value dlo on the court as much as i did to start the season. we've won 2/3 of our games with him being largely an anchor. so now he's an expiring to play with. let's hit on that.

Crazy that the biggest non-big rebounder of all time is the second-leading rebounder of the team, behind the center

    I agree.

But while they aren’t defenders, we do have guards. We have no size and I Honestly don’t expect Vando or Wood to return at this point.

I certainly won’t pass on a good wing if one emerges but I would prioritize a big man.

If we grab a decent big, he won't be.
Lebron was the third best rebounder in Cleveland, playing with Love and Thompson.

He avg slightly more reb per game, than Dwight on the chip team.

Now..it's a sizable gap between him and anyone else, behind AD. I don't think that's a winning proposition.

I think Rob is going to make a decent move, maybe two. We aren't that far off, from being a legit contender IMO.

Yeah I'm actually a bit surprised at Russell's performance thus far. I don't like him as a playoff fit, but he has usefulness during the regular season. He's been pretty much dogging it, so far this season.
