    JJ on ESPN LA.
Really like what he says about AD. Especially about going 6 min without touching the ball. I think with him we will have a lot of the obvious stuff that every fan is screaming about taken care off. I think he's a very smart guy and will see all the obvious stuff. Really encouraging to have a stronger floor. The ceiling is what we will learn the next few months

Really liked what I heard on Lowe, the presser, and the post-ESPN LA follow up.

He is going to win every time he gets in front of a mic.

We heard more about Rui corner and crashing, how Austin is being setup to have a really big year (hope we get the stamina leveled up), the development program (sounds good... curious to see the fruit it yields), coaching staff, actual sets and plays instead of bumper sticker b******* from Ham, the plan for AD and sky's the limit for him. Max was recognized for being a member of the team, that didn't happen at all last year. Knecht is a 1%'er... damn! JJ and other staff (per the Kam bros) mentioned he's been in the weight room a lot. I wonder if it's the annual 15 pounds of muscle. It's interesting that's the only measured increment in muscle gain for Laker players. The Bronny vs Bron play described in practice was pretty funny too.

    Really good stuff.

did he mean 1% of nba players? because if so, that would be pretty huge for the team.

    yeah, additionally:

using lebron as a screener: thank god.

also agree that possessions were an issue for us last year. we seemed to have consistently fewer either due to higher TOs or giving up too many o-boards. interesting that his plan is to grab more o-boards ourselves--not what i would have suggested, but i'm just a dude.

wish he said why he thinks AD forgot how to shoot. i wonder if his theory is the same as mine (i don't think he forgot).

Reaves and Maxwell took shots at Darvin praising the structure of this new coaching staff and knowing what they're asked to do. Pretty telling...

Also, AD, Rui, Max, Wood and Reaves saying JJ asked them to take more 3s. I think we will be top5 in the league in 3pt attempts. I prefer quality shots and our 2 stars are stronger in the paint, but let's see how JJ's offense translates

Curious to see how Vando fits in this offense

wait, were you being serious? That would be an incredible start to his coaching career, but I’ll settle for coaching that doesn’t torpedo the team’s efforts and rotations that actually make sense.

but I’d like to hear how a 9 man rotation helps develop players. is he hoping to get enough garbage time play for young players that they develop that way?

Everyone, except AD...so far, has taken the chance this week to subtlety or not so subtlety s*** on Ham. It's been hilarious. I'm hoping that will bond the team in a similar way it did when we moved on from the Russ nightmare.

I know it's first week of school vibes, but everything we've heard about JJ this week...I'm really digging. The preparation, organization, structure, connecting with and relating to the players. The no b******* approach by already letting everyone know the starting 5 and that he wants to run a 9 man rotation.

Normally I’d have said the same thing, but if JJ wanted to play our actual players and get them reps, see how they look, he had to play who he did how he did. With no LeBron, AD, Wood, or Vando we are mostly a team of guards as far as actual roster players go. He did play big players in the 2nd half, but again, those are mostly G-League guys and training camp contracts. This is just what can happen when you build the roster this way, I was actually impressed overall with how we played considering who we were missing. The Wolves didn’t play their stars either, but they’re just a bigger team still.

I don’t know enough about offensive schemes to have known this, but I’ve seen it referenced multiple times so it must be pretty funny

This man said more in this one preseason postgame presser than Ham did in two years combined.

You mean you need actual answers and not coach speak bumper stickers? "Get stronger as the season gets longer"? Or "it's a marathon, not a sprint." Or "hell of a ball club"

Or inserting a Saginaw reference like he's playing a game of Mad Libs

first thing he said post-game is first thing i noticed: 15 fewer FGAs. we did this all year last year, and it has to stop. i'm glad jj is on it, but it's discouraging that out of the gate, we're having to be MUCH more efficient on any possession because we have so relatively few.

Which doesn't make a ton of sense when you look at the team stats.

    We put up 30+ threes.
    20+ FTs
Were right there with them on boards
    Won fast break points
Close with points in the paint

Biggest area statistically i can see impacted on that front: 12 point swing on points conceded from turnovers. Early transition opportunities before the defense is set.

Need to get the TOs down to in the low teens. That's expected with all the new, no Bron and AD, and G-League guys playing though.
