I like the player, he has very interesting offensive skills. A doubt that I have is about the volume he needs to score and to be productive: in college he has been the 1st and 2nd option of his team offense, also in this Las Vegas Summer League he's having lots of shots to perform. But with the 1st team? It'll be impossible for him to have this amount of individual offense, he needs to be ready with few shots. I'm starting to think that maybe he could be more functional with the 2nd unit, so withouth LeBron and DLo offensive volumes.
He won’t be starting so no worries. I could see 20+ minutes in the rotation though. That’s what top 5-8 picks usually do …. especially with an NBA ready body strength wise and athletically. With those offensive skills …. book it.
No I think it’s pretty typical, or at least not super uncommon, some kids grow early and some grow late, I was always one of the tallest kids and then I finished growing in 8th grade and everyone caught up. Then there was a kid who used to get made fun of through 8th grade for always being the shortest, he was maybe 5’2/5’3 at most by then, and by the beginning of sophomore year he had shot up to 6’2 or 6’3, it was wild. Another kid I played on the basketball team with in JH was probably 5’9, then in HS he also shot up to 6’4/6’5, went on to play college ball at South Carolina. It’s probably not crazy common, but if it happened like that just at my one school I’m sure it happens plenty.
I don't necessarily disagree if it's the right player and we keep AR. We have 1, MAYBE 2 years left with two top 10 players.
