Yeah the Sixers environment won't help. He was the last man getting back on defense too. Like every possesion.

Well to be fair he's the Center. I saw him trying sometimes. He's just really out of shape. Disappointingly out of shape I would say. That had to be a huge reason why the Lakers were turned off by his workouts.

Sixers are a joke. I wish he would have went to New York. Seriously. At least Phil and Fisher are there; I don't trust anybody in Philly. That said, here are some Vines on his first game. Credit goes to 'Keepitrealorelse on LG,' who put these up during our summer league discussion thread. I thought I'd share them...

He has trouble she's having trouble establish position and is easily being bumped off; when a defender has length on him, he's been having some difficult as well...

i only saw his first game, but i thought okafor was settling too much early. he was getting post touches, but all of them were too far out. and i don't think he got pushed there. he needed to mix it up a bit on where he was starting his moves.

i thought his footwork on defense looked better than advertised, and he was more involved/aggressive on the defensive boards than advertised.

i still think he looks good. i don't think he's a finished product by any means, either. lots of areas wherein he can improve (and players generally do improve).

No, not really, but he sure ain't as "NBA-ready" as previously scouted. Not with that conditioning.

can't help but wonder if some of his effort issues (his body language wasn't good in that game) might have gone away had he been wearing a purple and gold jersey...

Yeah I"m not going to start bashing the kid just because he's not a Laker. There's clearly some problems there, but he's doing just fine.

Will love seeing him go up against Upshaw.

I expect both of them to tire themselves out and look like crap. :D

Upshaw has already admitted he's way out of shape.

Yeah, this is fair. To be fair, Russell will have some problems as well. If I have any Vines on him that display some concern, I'll post those as well. These are kids. About 1.5-2 years ago, they were in high school. I fully expect Towns/Russell/Okafor to all go through growing pains. It is what it is...

I also think Tarik will body Jah out to be not as effective as he'll want to be. Like those clips up there.

Definitely. Tarik is a grown man who bodied up NBA players. He's going to make Jahlil work. I'm also excited because I assume Jah is going to want to go at us hard. Hopefully we'll see him fully motivated.

Was talking about this with a buddy last night...how does Philly not have one single big man coach or mentor on that roster?

Seriously, they have so much invested in those three young men. If I'm them, I call every 90s big who's answering my calls and offering them whatever salary they want. Then I'm burning two roster spots on bigs who'll never put on a jersey and will wear a suit 82 times next year. To teach, mentor, advise, watch over, hold their hands when crossing the street, and wipe their noses if need be.

That's way too much talent to piss away. And as a fan of true big men with game, not the trash we've been forced to watch from today's "elite" bigs in D12 and DJ, I'll be furious with that so called franchise if they don't help these kids at least reach most of their potential.

Yeah and what has he been doing? Mix in some work with time on the couch. Wasn't the heart thing cleared weeks ago?
