i loved young westbrook; he had a lot of kobe in him, imo. he just aged so poorly, and instead of accepting, he raged against it.

man, if he'd just been cool with being a backup pg for us when it was clear things weren't working, he'd have been a hero, imo. we'd have re-signed him to an over-mle contract to continue in the role, too. instead, he insisted he was still the same dude from five years ago, and he kills every team he's on because of it. it takes away from what i believe is a very positive off-court presence, too. by all accounts, he's good to his teammates and to people in his community--why not just translate the humility that those things require into gracefully aging on the court? it could have been easy.

Actually, I think Russ will be a guy who'll get more love after his career ends. People hate him because he makes dumb decisions and is ineffective when on the floor. As time passes, people forget that and his stats and records are remembered more often, so he'll be more respected
