I said in a seperate thread that we lacked a championship level 3-8 rotation and I still stand by that. We have too few starter level players. Reaves is a glue guy best suited as a 4th/5th best option. Dlo is a 5th-7th player in most rotations. The rest of the our decent guys; Gabe, Rui, Vando etc are all rotation players in that 7-10 mark.

When you compare us to the C Bags outside of Brown and Tatum; any of Jrue, White, KP, Horford, Hauser, Pritchard probably all start for us over any of our guys.

Had me until Pritchard and hauser.

Boston’s 3-6 guys are way better than ours across the board, though. They’re also very expensive both in salary and in trade.

You still beat the drum on Capela but he's not available. And surely not for Rui. Atlanta is high on Johnson and he will play as many minutes as possible. Rui has no use for them.
What cap space are you signing Tyus Jones with?
This is just wishful thinking. And I think if it's to dream of unrealistic moves we can do better. You want our 4 highest paid players to be two 5s and two 4s. That's just terrible roster construction.

Yeah I think this one way players is overblown. Only Vando is quite bad in offense but outside of that it's nothing that other teams don't have and find ways to make it work.

Yeah, but is Max or Knecht that far off Hauser or Pritchard? It's the same thing.

So now we're ok for the regular season but you still say we are a play-in team. Your argument is all messed up.

    I didn't say we didn't need 2-way players.
    I didn't say we're fine.
All I said is that your take that we are a mediocre team BECAUSE of the lack of 2 way players and depth is inaccurate when looking at the 2 teams who made the Finals.

Bottom line is: today, July 20, there's not a move out there, it seems, that brings this team to top 3 in the West. I think that maybe there is near the deadline.
We were FOUR games behind the 4th seed. I'm 100% sure Ham robbed us more than that. So we can definitely be in the top4 fight until February and try to pull a big trade near the deadline that raise us to a contender

We are a play- in team until Rob does his job and gets us another REAL big. We will get destroyed yet again with Wood and Hayes as our fake big men.

Meh..Capela is available, I posted the link. How do you know what Atlanta wants? Clint is on an expiring contract, they don't seem inclined to extend him, that's why he's back on the market.

We do have enough cap space, to sign a mini mle range salary right now. According to the Athletic. Their article says Lebron's paycut gives us enough space to do that.

Now..Who cares about this 4th highest paid salary stuff? What difference does that actually make? We have some guys on lower salaries, due to time in the League, that has absolutely nothing to do with roster construction. Javale got paid more than Caruso or Kuz..so what?

This stuff about 4 games out of 4th place etc, is also irrelevant, Dallas got to the Finals as the 5th seed. It's about how you match up, with the other playoff teams. We lost the season series, to several teams in the West last season.

I don't get with this idea of how "close"we supposedly are either. Close to what? Playin status? Every season is different, we haven't accomplished anything, with this current group. We beat a banged up Memphis team, a Golden State team that we matched up well against. Then we've lost 8 out 9 playoff games to Denver. The same Denver team, that got bounced in the 2nd rd. I'm not sure why we should assume, that we'd beat Minnesota or Dallas in a 7 game series. Based on what? We got owned by Sacramento last season!

The competition isn't going to sit idly by, Dallas made moves after getting to the Finals. Standing pat on some mediocre past results, is a recipe for another failure IMO.

why do we want players that play both ways?

We had Dwight already. We didn't want him back. Let's just stick with one way players for now.

Jru Holiday is a ridiculously good player. Awesome defense, can be your PG or SG, makes enough jumpers to keep defenses honest, can play bully ball offense, and is a great off-ball cutter.

Absolutely great guy to be your 3rd best player and the Bucks replaced him with a smaller guy, who can't defend, and whose offense is only better every 3 gaames. Flipping Lillard for Holiday is only going to be topped by the Westbrook by the worst trade of the last 10 years by a contender

True. That trade was the end of the Bucks title contention, hiring Doc was the coup de grace

    C Bags goes breaking bad
    https://x.com/wojespn/status/1815053642606444631
Hauser contract increase C Bags payment for season 2025/26 to the projected 225 million dollars with an additional fine for luxury tax in the amount of 210 million – the highest rate in the league and above the second threshold for the second year in a row.
But if nobody will buy team for a few years who will pay fines for second apron?

I wasn't counting on him already. I think he waited on us but we couldn't free up a spot (or didn't want to and/or are trying to do something else).

Gabe better be healthy this year and JHS needs to grow enough to at least give us 10 to 15 minutes when injuries happen
