    To round it out...

    POINT GUARDS

    https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/_/year/2024/position/pg/sort/contract_value

DLO, Austin, Gabe, JHS, Bron, Bronny and AD as a hub. Currently we're good. But if we move DLO or Gabe and JHS (or some combo) we'll need to fill a role.

My preference is bring back Dinwiddie and scale up his role then add one more vet.

    Really short list here:

    1) CP3 [potential FA]: I know. As a backup and can bridge the gap from JJ to the roster, for the min...not going to do better.

    2) Kris Dunn: really like his defensive ability, doesn't give you much else but I'll take it for the min.

why? i was thinking if we ended up with an extra spot for a guard, it would be good to bring him back.

what about fultz? if the magic spend all their cash, there's no room for him. plus, they have suggs, anthony, and black.

Sounded like he felt undervalued here. Maybe he chalks that up to HC and not as an organization. I think there will probably a bottom feeder who needs offense that can promise him a bigger role though and maybe more $.

The injuries are concerning as is the complete lack of a 3 ball. Like there's bad and then there's in the 20s bad...he's the latter. I know my candidates contrast to that stance a bit. But CP can bring other aspects if he's injured and Dunn is a one trick pony (defense), but his one trick is near an elite level. I don't think Fultz has one elite skill.

There's worse options: Lowry, Bev, Payne, IT. So over them, definitely sign me up.

There's two good options on the market I didn't mention because we're not investing the amount they'll cost into that role -- Jones and Morris.

    DAMN!

If Joel holds up, that could give Boston a fight in the playoffs.

i think fultz can defend. he grades out close to dunn there on some metrics.

i'm also a believer in the reverse laker shooting curse, too (bad shooters do better here)!

Great point! Also, Reddick could have a movement shooter on the floor for 48 minutes per game.

I don’t put too much stock into Irwin’s “reporting” but just passing this along

I genuinely think we’re a better fit for Klay, so I’d be surprised if he went to Dallas for the same amount of money. I’d have to imagine Lebron offering to take a paycut for Klay would mean something to him, plus the hometown/dad connection, etc

If it’s about Dallas offering more money, I don’t quite see how. Are you able to combine multiple contracts in a sign and trade? If so, I suppose they could do something like Kleber + Powell + Exum to match what we could offer via DLo sign and trade, but that path seems a lot more complicated. Not sure if GS would want that kind of 3 for 1 trade

you can trade 2 for 1 on S&Ts. so dallas could move green and someone and get klay's salary up. there's been a lot of optimism in dallas about this getting done (not from the fans, though--they don't like it).

yeah...now if morey gives him the TE, that's an olive branch.

once ballmer and company knew someone else would offer george the max, they needed to make better, quicker decisions. and they probably should have just worked with golden state, as bitter a pill as that was to swallow.

Bulls are in full tear down/rebuild mode.

I hope the Lakers try to get Vucevic for salary matching (Gabe/Wood/Hayes/JHS) and a protected 1st. The Bulls might even prefer DLo’s expiring contract.

It would be either that or Wendell Carter as viable solutions for big man depth that’s attainable.

interestingly, i'm not sure about that. you're probably right, and it feels right based on the eye test. but numbers say grant's even worse defensively than rui. but better offensively.

it would depend on what's going out for me. if we burn picks on it...i don't know.
