Lebron doesn’t just want to win another championship he wants to win one with his son.IMO this is what’s driving his generosity

Why would I want a 12 ppg MLE SG/SF who can barely defend? I can probably get Troy Brown, give him these minutes, and be almost there. Heck, TP can do that.

And for Klay to lauch 9 3s, he'd have to play 20+ minutes at least and chuck, taking shots from EVERYONE else.

No thank you. I'd rather have TP shooting 40% at 5 attempts + AD shooting the rest of the shots from the post or somesuch. Even Bron.

Why would I pay for something so easily replicatable in this current roster?

if lebron will give up 22 million to make signing klay possible, you do it. no questions asked.

i'm just waiting to hear what ELSE needs to happen. i still don't believe he's signing for the MLE. what was all this about if that's what he was going to do?

Why? What is that Klay does that we can't achive without him? The only thing he can do, and even that is sorta debatable, is shoot, may be in motion.

Let's say he's able to do 40% at 9 attempts. It's not a skill we need. We had 5 (!) players last season shooting around 40% on at least 3 attempts, with AR being 6th with 37% on 5 attempts. We can simply let each one of them shoot 1 or 2 more and that's Klay, distributed.

I'd much rather have a non-shooting defender (Vando) in his place and with his minutes.

    ---

Oh, AND we just drafted a player that many consider the steal of the draft. That player just so happens to be, on paper, a Klay clone. So, I'd rather see what he can do given minutes than waste MLE on Klay Redundson.

i'm mostly on your side and wary of the klay acquisition. i could see it working, but...very worried.

that said, in the scenario where lebron takes a cut large enough to simply add klay to the team, it frees up trade possibilities with other players that can shore up weaknesses, with klay stepping into the shooter role in the first unit.

Nobody is signing him for $24 million a year. The talk is MLE only.
Anyway, you have your opinion, and Rob, the guy who builds the roster has his.

Same as he had with the Westbrook crap. Bron was pushing and he caved.

Valanciunas is the target. Lakers really need what he can give for that price.

:This: .... much more than adding to our logjam of decent to good/really good 2/3s by this mid season (Redick effect predicted here). (not knowing what Rob has planned for that big 5 likely in a trade, if we do Klay.

Klay or Harden who would you prefer..
The type of player that James would be willing to make a financial sacrifice for would be an established veteran playmaker such as James Harden or Klay Thompson, or an established big man to play alongside Anthony Davis such as Jonas Valančiūnas, sources told ESPN.

If the Lakers are unable to entice a player of that ilk to come to L.A. for the MLE, James will seek the max, Paul told ESPN.

Glad to hear the "sauces" say Bron is at least including a capable established BIG like Jonas in his wishes, if that's true, and this isn't just a push for Thompson.

If allay was still Klay, GS would lock him up.

he’s had tough injuries some people never come back from, but nobody is ever the same.
At 34, you’re short sighted to give him more than 2 years, and you have to hope he gets some of his magic back.

I think he had an 0-10 game in the playoffs, and fans aren’t letting for forget it.

all I can say is that I sure hope this is not our big acquisition for the year. If so, we’re going nowhere fast.

Uh, I like Knecht, but he has major defensive issues, just like Klay. He’s also a Rookie. Expecting him to shoot 40% his first year in the NBA is reaching. We have no idea how quickly his game will translate.

I’m not in favor of trading for Klay. This is a completely different situation. We gutted a Chip team to acquire Westbrook. We were a play in team this past season.
If it’s a trade for Klay, I’m out.
We need to trade DLo for a reliable PG or big.

I’m not going to discuss BeerdoMcFloppington because he would be a worse fit than Westbrick was. Also, he’s a garbage human being.
