TB, Tinkerbell, Chokeolo, same guy that I don't like. Yes..Lebron upped the ante, by offering up salary, so that we can get the 12.5M MLE.

It opens up our options tremendously. I'm still Iffy, on the principle of the thing, but the Lakers are my team, and it's not illegal. Might as well go all in on it IMO.

Young would be my first choice. Because I think that he can be had, for two FRP picks. We get a P&R nightmare at PG, that would fit beautifully with AD, after Lebron retires.

Then go get that bigman, to cap it off. We upgraded our starting 5, and kept Austin and Jarred on great contracts.

Like I said..now we'd have options, we could flip Rui and a min guy, for a big like Lopez or Capela, without giving up a pick.

Then use C'lo, Gabe, 2 FRP , insert the MLE into a trade( I think that's allowed), and still go after Trae.

Rob might have something different in mind, but I feel good about something game changing, shaking loose for us by July 6.

Prepare to be disappointed. Other teams will get good players for peanuts, while we'll be charged an arm and a leg for scrubs. Lakere hate is real...

a few issues. using the mle hardcaps us at the first apron (179 million). so trading for young and using the full mle requires that we stay below that 179 number. i'm not sure there's a path there, mathematically.

also, the mle can be used to accept players in trade (this is new) but not combined with anything (this has always been true of all exceptions).

i also don't think atlanta moves young anymore. they don't own their pick next year (unprotected to SA). they can't just tank (they owe SA unprotected picks three consecutive years!), and what we'd offer in trade for young would be for a team that's tanking. also, they just got our 2025 pick, so they will do nothing they think will help us. the young ship has sailed, imo. that's fine by me, though it's one fewer option on the table.

in fairness, we usually nab someone we shouldn't in FA. it's trades where we get screwed. that murray trade is still pissing me off and might be this time next year as well.

It seems it’s allowed, not sure, but Trevor of LakerNation mentioned it. Hopefully Austin and Connect4 are not included in any trades lol I need to watch the SL and have someone to root for like we did Lonzo

ok, that would also be new then. feel like i would have noticed that when they announced the changes, though. i definitely noticed that the mle could be used as a TE, for example. if this is the case, can TEs be added to trades, too? that's also something of a game-changer.

btw, seeing lots of complaining about the new cba ruining things, but really, it's just doing what it should and making it harder for the clippers, suns, and warriors to just spend everyone into oblivion.

Both Dirk and Tim Duncan took pay cuts to give their teams more leeway to get players. It didn’t start some huge trend and LeBron knows this. Give me a break.

where does it say it can be aggregated? i only found this:

which is what i already knew. this just means it can operate like a trade exception. but trade exceptions historically haven't been able to be combined with anything, which is why i assumed that was the case here, too. if not, i feel like there'd have been more press about it. anyone have a link to when trevor lane discussed it?

A lot of moving parts with this new CBA. I think Lane said yesterday that there are now 10 different actions/circumstances under the new CBA that can trigger a hard cap, used to just be 4. Giving how interconnected all this stuff is, it seems like we'll learn the details of our NTPMLE signing (if it is indeed available to us), a trade to clear roster spots and LeBron's new deal in pretty quick succession. I'll avoid commenting on different scenarios until then to keep myself from looking dumb lol.

i wonder if the loophole is that you can absorb a player into the mle, then make use of that short-turnaround trade aggregation rule--thus it's not really combining--it's two separate transactions.

What are the chances of the Lakers getting tobias Harris? I think as you're 4 best guy at MLE he would be a very good add and he's easily a guy who can be in finishing lineups in the playoffs.

He will always be a guy who watch and think why aren't you a star, more consistent etc. But in that 4th spot I think he's going to be a lot better then a lot of playoff teams 4 or 5th guys

Did they give up 18M dollars or take a 40% paycut too? The numbers matter, 40% sounds pretty damn steep to me, those guys weren't Billionaires.
