yeah, i didn't think it was possible. for a second there, i thought your guy was going to slip, and i was bummed when he didn't. but when knecht was on the board, i was on my couch like "don't f*** this up..." fell in our laps. i think he can play immediately and has room to grow. folks mad about missing out on jacquez can relax i think.
OKC making it rain. Just throwing second rounders (singles) on 'em. Got Lively and Wallace'ed again. Carter seemed more likely if he made it past 11 as a trade up option, we were rumored to like him more than Wallace too. I was thinking it was going to be him or Da Silva if Knecht medicals were a problem no one knew about. Definitely should see the floor night 1. Too early to try to predict minutes or role until we see how free agency and trade season plays out. If there's one negative it's we have another wing who's much better on one side of the court than the other side. Going to have to clear that up.
Use some of that $7m go get Bona and trade up if needed for Bronny. 55 might be fine though. Rob and JJ are preaching development, let's stock the shelf.
if dlo walks and no pg upgrade, could we get away with AR at pg n kniect at 2spot? kniect seems adapt at creating for others as good as AR n with bron thats basically 3 shot creators
if you didn't like dlo/reaves as a defensive back court, you're really not going to like knecht/reaves. to me, knecht is a 15mpg bench player in year one. also, i haven't seen much footage of him as a playmaker. but i didn't see a lot from reaves in college, either, and he was basically a playmaker out of the box, so who knows. offensively, i'm not worried. defensively...iffy, even long-term. best hope is to get to reaves level (possible, imo), but it won't ever be a "strength".
i like it. they're trying to negate ballmer's huge advantage by actually having strategic rather than financial consequences. second apron is 190 million. jeanie may force rob to buy a pick just to ensure our salary doesn't get there, lol. i'll also be surprised if we buy a pick tomorrow. we've already got some guys to develop, and bronny is likely getting a roster spot. there's just not a lot of room unless we want to stash someone overseas.
I get that aspect, of trying for balance, but it’s a 2nd rounder, that’s a pretty steep penalty for a 2nd rounder, those guys don’t even have to get guaranteed contracts, it’s just teams taking a shot on someone. I just know we’re still looking at bigs and there are still some decent ones to be had it seems, but I agree we don’t really have room to develop many more players. I guess I would assume they’d take one or the 2-way spots if we did buy a pick.
It’s all in his head. He was ballin’ out in the G-League for several games in a row before getting injured. If he can get over the mental aspect, he can become a serviceable backup PG.
On Irwin's pod tonight he said the plan was to draft a center until Knecht fell to them. And they're weighing their options/ considering buying another 2nd rounder. Since they were looking at centers there's still one who played in your back yard. Just saying. I am excited and intrigued to see how the start of the second goes. Teams had a whole night to pivot, make calls, promises, and negotiate deals. The league needs it to be active. I was very surprised tonight that not one active NBA player was traded during the draft.
Ahh I see, ok that clears some stuff up, thanks. I heard the same pod tonight about our interest in buying into the 2nd round, I just didn’t frame it that way because Irwin seems especially disliked right now, and he also, after praising this pick heavily, went after Pelinka hard tonight for containing to say how much the CBA is making trades difficult. To be fair though, Raj did the same (and so did Trevor and Sean on LakersNation), they just don’t like that being put out as an excuse so early on is all, citing that Rob makes like 15 mil per year and this is his only job, so yeah, not a lot of sympathy to be found.
