I don't see anything Golden State has that the Flippers would want for Paul George. Besides Steph.

Expiring CP3 contract that can be flipped to someone else for assets and picks maybe.

Paul is small, injury prone and damn near old as Lebron. On a non garunteed contract to boot. Who is going to give up assets for that? Ballmer would be nuts to sign off on that.

The only team that I can think of might be Brooklyn, looking to dump Simmons for Kuminga and Paul, and waive Cp3. But Simmons is on an expiring deal himself at 40M.

Klay is about done. Somebody might take a flyer on a 1 year..show me something deal. He's in for a big paycut for sure, wherever he lands.

    two separate deals:

    cp3/wiggins for PG

klay for dlo and gabe maybe? would have to look at how that impacts the luxury tax/apron stuff.

i'd prefer gpII/looney; klay just seems more laker-ish.

nobody wants paul at 30 million. nobody wanted him at 30 million last year, either. his contract just keeps getting used to get things done, and it has to be guaranteed to do it.

ballmer does it because a) he's richer than god, b) they apparently wanted to pick paul up if he got waived, and c) the other option could be losing PG for nothing to someone with cap space. wiggins is a downgrade from PG, but it's better than zilch. and cp's a huge expiring that ballmer would use to bring in another expensive role player or two in february.

For all the talk of Klay being washed, the guy still put up 18 ppg on 39% from three this year. He's far from the defender he used to be but still has some size and can hold up okay against wings (he can't take on guards like he used to). He is still a good basketball player.

yeah, he's just dropped off as a defender, which lowers his value considerably.

i really wonder what the number he was looking for from them was, because it seems silly to quibble about it. they offered 2/48, right? that's not unreasonable. couldn't they have just gone an extra year to make him happy and not have to deal with an ugly breakup with a franchise icon?

do we know they're buddies? and no, he's probably not leaving. but it's not nothing that he didn't just sign an extension like kawhi did.

24M per is a good deal for Klay. He should take it and retire there IMO.

    1. Rui, Vando, Vincent, #17 to Portland for Grant and Reath

-The acquisition of the veteran Grant appeases Lebron and AD, because he is a win-now player
-Also appeases Reddick because 3 and D
-AT 28, Reath is an older second year player, but played solid minutes at backup center last season. Could be the backup. He long and could shoot the three.
-We are able to save significant salary by trading Vando before his extension kicks in. We need to do that to stay under the apron.

    2. Trade 2029 1st (unprotected), 2025 2nd, and 2028 pick swap to Memphis for #9. Pick Carter.

Supposedly they are tight. George wants a 4 year deal though, can't blame him, he'll be 38 at the end of that contract. This is probably his last shot at another fat contract.
