I don't get why Hurley is in such pedestal. He was no one a few years ago. He's not the best coach in the world, not even close. At least for now, where he haven't proved anything outside 2 great years in college.

He was a gamble. An intriguing gamble for sure, but still a gamble. Not a sure thing. He never coached pros. EVER. Absolutely no one knows how he would turn out, which makes it a gamble. That doesn't command such a high offer.

Considering both the risk involved in him and where we are as a franchise and the clouds over our near future, I think it's terrible business to do such an offer.

God complex. I had concerns about him going from small city god to being blamed for everything while having less control at the next level.

This might have been for the best.

Going to take a bit of a leap with this guess because i didn't fact check this, but I'm assuming -- First time the wife of a coaching candidate we've interviewed gets a sitdown exclusive with the local news station.


Can JJ's wife get an interview about what a distraction the Hurley story was to his family for that week?

 

well, one thing that was definitely true was that lady wanted no part of moving. and i get that. they both certainly saw how much scrutiny the lakers head coach gets, too, and both probably figured that was not super fun. her quote there "why? you're so good at this!" sounds super confident but i see that as concern that he might not be good at the other thing. you have to believe you're good enough to take our job. one thing i'll say for ham is that he definitely felt like he was up to the task. he was wrong, and probably overconfident to a fault, but you can't show up worrying.

 

So I guess we gotta wait a few more days for the inevitable JJ Woj bomb.

if you mean shams was right, he was absolutely in the dark on the hurley thing, so his implicit claim of redick 4eva was flat out wrong.

 

At least she (probably) doesn’t make him mary her every year like a certain “Doug” we know.
