That's a great start, hopefully the FO will pay attention to his thoughts on this subject.

Don't follow much college ball but he would rack up a s*** load of T's from the NBA refs. Dude cares and likes to "cry/complain" a lot :D
With that being said, i think he stays where he is, getting a few mil more just by using the Lakers name.

A lot of good info here, Aaron Larsuel comes in at about the 16 min mark. You might even enjoy this abeer, Aaron calls out Anthony for his skewing negative a good deal of the time. He also says JJ is not out as a candidate and may still be the coach in the end

Yep, I think the allure of California in general is way down. This is not the old days anymore. Remember how we used to talk about the internet opening up marketing streams to other "less prestigious" regions??!! Now, the high cost of living, sending kids through private schools, high tax rates, etc. etc., has got to be as big an influence for the players as it is for us. On top of that, even the most marquee players who may want to be closer to media and big business for help in partnerships and marketing opportunities are beginning to shift to other areas. Players can live almost anywhere they want and have ample opportunities for continued economic growth and marketing potential.

Point is, we have to build a VERY competitive environment to attract anyone. I am hoping this move with Hurley will be just what we need to move into a future that is profitable for everyone involved.

i think the brand is still pretty strong, and if you're really rich, southern california is just a great place to be--which is why so many of these guys live there in the offseason. but yeah, that can't be it. if we had ballmer's pockets and built a heat/spurs-esque stable front office/coaching situation, we'd be at the top of every player's list, imo. ballmer's pockets isn't happening, but we can do some things about the other part.

at the beginning, he's really squirming and tries to suggest that the dan hurley thing just happened overnight. that's clearly not true.

Props to Rob for keeping this under wraps.
I’m excited about the thought of having a coach who’s actually had real success.
If this has been leaked by the Lakers, then I expect the skeleton of the deal has already been agreed upon by both sides.
If this goes down and the words about building a true system instead of just Star chasing, I’ll be over the moon. Even if it’s not Hurley, this should still be the plan.

not going to lie, after this news drop, it's going to be hugely disappointing if we end up with JJ as HC after all.

Out of left field comes…a miracle?

so would the UConn Guy want JJ as an Assistant? Get him some exposure?

Larsuel also says that it wasn't an accident this came out today of all days.

    Buck Foston.

Speaking of Irwin, here's his latest

If Dan's the man, we might be getting a new celebrity sitting courtside every night.

???LOL.. So..we might be using Hurley an actual, two time Championship winning coach, just to pressure a dude with no coaching experience at all, into taking our HC job? WTF

We have gone young since Rob took (actually) over and traded Russ. We got Vando and Rui, re-signed Austin to the max possible and invested on Max. If I'm not wrong, AD and LeBron were the only +30 of our roster this year
95% of what these insiders write is pure speculation. They know nothing. Just these news today show that all the zillion reports from the past couple weeks were wrong.
I honestly don't read anymore into it, these guys are just trying to stay relevant in the business. Their job is to entertain fans until there's an actual leak. But most of it is just making up stuff or writing a 5 paragraph article/report that just reuses the previous article/report but in other words

This conflicts with what Irwin says about UCONN not having offered Hurley a new deal yet.

Feels like a lot of trying to save face from Irwin for himself and his sources.

“I’m still told Redick has always been at or near the top of their search and remains there now”

Well maybe it’s time to acknowledge that Rob is running a tight ship so the few sources you have don’t truly have accurate insight into the process. If your source, as most sources have been, was completely blindsided by the Lakers targeting Hurley, I’m taking the rest of their reporting with a serious grain of salt

None of these guys, seem to know what they are talking about ,most of the time. It happens every season, and then we wash, rinse, and forget about that, when the next round of insider information comes out.

    SMH..wait until free agency starts.

We are at least going to hire somebody soon, that much is definitely true.
