Jordan Clarkson Discussion: Sky's the limit!

Quite frankly, the one reason why we will improve this year will be because of this young man. He proved he belongs at the NBA level. Not only that, he excelled earning himself Top 5 rookies honors. He started playing regular minutes in January until the end of the season in April. He'll play a full season next year and possibly even start; of course that's completely dependent on Byron. Nevertheless, that's an upgrade, and one of the reasons I expect a wins improvement next year along with other various factors...

 

^^^. I just wanted to bring JC back into the discussion.. I really think he might be the most important piece.

 

i can't lie...i was pro-Okafor but a Russell and JC backcourt does get me excited..what a nightmare to defend

Russell and Randle see a youngster ball out like that with that kind of confidence, i can see the 'why not me' mentality coming out of the rooks

then you've got 3 youngsters gunnin...win or lose, teams know they gotta deal with that

 

I don't know about most important, but he's a big factor. He'll probably start at SG. He does an excellent job of moving without the ball, diving to the rim, finding open seams, and is an excellent finisher when he's near the rim. He improved his playmaking ability working w/Nash, he improved in his ability to navigate the pick in roll, so now he's a force because he's a threat to score or pass.

His outside shooting is key; the way teams generally guarded the Jordan Clarkson pick in roll was by going underneath the screen, and they would force him to shoot the 3. He wasn't efficient in that area last season, but I think he got better month to month, if I recall. However, once he develops that three-point shot to 37-38%, teams can't go under the screen anymore and that will improve Clarkson's efficiency in the pick in roll.

The beauty of playing with a guy like Russell is his fantastic court vision. So, while Clarkson is moving without the ball, diving to the rim, spotting up, Russell will find him and all JC will have to do is finish, and if he's finishing around the rim; he's an elite finisher; if he becomes a better 3-point shooter, Russell will throw him the ball right in his shooting pocket and JC will score. In other words, JC can do what he does best, and the game becomes easier for him as a result of playing with a guy like Russell.

 

Randle described by Dakari Johnson from KY as fearless. LOL at Russell fearing anything. A little worried about #24 though. (eyebrows guy)

 

Clarkson has been shoved aside in our thoughts, understandably so. He is the bright spot and from what I've seen has put on a lot of muscle mass to help deal with the 82 game schedule. Russell and him should be terrific together, each feeding off one another. But the key player IMO is Randle, how he pans out could mean the difference between being a 8 seed, or back in the lottery for the 76ers.

 

Seems to me like Hibbert is a BIG (pun intended) piece to that equation as well.

 

IDK if this was posted before or not, if it has been oh well it's awesome enough to post again. The chemistry Clarkson and Black have had in such a short time is awesome. I know it's highlights, but look at the hands on Tarik!!!!

 

Thats exactly how I feel. If russell turns out to be ROY and the other 2 develop considerably I think people like durant will be very intrigued.
By the end of next season the lakers can be the more exciting team in LA once again.

 

The biggest part of Lob City gone. Biff sensibly working more on skills now. I think it happens MUCH sooner than that.

 

It would basically be the opposite of the LaMarcus signing in San Antonio.

At the same time, when Duncan and Pop leave and Tony Parker is aging and in the last couple years of his career, will Danny Green, Aldridge and Leonard be enough to compete? Can they still attract bigger name guys with those 3?

On the other end you have a situation where we have Clarkson, Black, Russell, Randle and maybe even Jabari Brown...who knows about Nance, Upshaw and Antonio Brown at this point, and they're all younger guys that still have the rest of their careers ahead of them to where KD can grow old here and still have an awesome young supporting cast around him.

i tell one of my best friends that before i met him i didnt even like him that much (especially since we were both after the same girl ) but now he's one of my closest friends and i consider him family.

so these tweets shouldnt be taken seriously, we all say things we dont mean in the heat of the moment. hell im sure we've all talked crap about a player when he's in another team but we embrace him when they become a laker.

agreed some are quick to forget what a great season he had, granted it was on a bad team but he was a bright spot in out lineup and gave us a glimpse into the future

you add a recovered randle and our stud #2 pick in russell and if all goes well you got 3 guys you can build around

perfect scenario russ becomes our curry,jc becomes our westbrook and randle becomes our lamar odom

 

Yeah I'm most excited for this guy. Can't wait to see how many touchdowns he scores for the lakers!
