It's time to push hard for Mitchell, since he can solve several problems we have. I think it's absolutely worth it for us. Cleveland is going to end their playoff fight tonight.

They got good looks but when McDaniels missed 4 wide open 3s it's forgotten. KCP hit his and the Wolves missed theirs.

The problem the Nuggets pose is their finishing lineups just is more likely to finish those shots than opposing teams.

Lakers were so damn close they made Murray and Jokic look like very good mortals and not otherworldly (Gobert again convincing the NBA he's the DPOY is bonkers). Lebron and Reaves were getting stronger but the Lakers didn't have KCP type to stepup to match MPJ

I could see Miami that’s a good fit for him position wise and a winning organization.BKN would have the best assets but why? They aren’t winning anytime soon.

Pretty sure AR would be in the deal for Mitchell.

I'd love to keep him as well but if we're making a BIG move, he's obviously out. He's the only trade piece that teams value outside of our picks.

Unless Mitchell and his agent actively try to dissuade everyone else from trading for him by saying he'll only re-sign with us, he's not coming here. And I can't see him doing that because he obviously loves the idea of playing in NYC and probably Miami as well.

This is encouraging news to me. Of the superstars out there Mitchell is the one who intrigues me most and the only one I’d go all in for.

Logically LA and Miami make the most sense but if he is hell bent on playing in NY then that’s what he’ll do

Agreed, the only one who, if we traded AR to get him, I would accept it without moaning in agony.

Yeah, I would hate to see Austin go, but come on... if they are willing to send Mitchell to us, they have to ask for AR to be included in the deal. You would do it too if you were their GM. And it's one of those rare deals where you actually do the deal. Donovan is an elite guard who just had a 27/5/6 season, making an All-Star game (a 5-time all star player, no less). Just entering his prime too. He has improved significantly on defense, and is much better than anyone we can slot at the guard position (Since Dec. 16, Cleveland has had an outstanding 103.8 defensive rating in the 599 minutes Mitchell has been on the court. In the 414 minutes he’s been off, their rating balloons to 115.8 which is just slightly better than the league average.)

Mitchell would fit perfectly on this Laker team, and we'd only need to try and sign Drum for cheap (or someone similar), bring Spence back and we're ready to compete. Since Rui would have to be included in the trade as well, it only solves the Rui/Vando issue and allows you to play a better defensive player on the wing at all times. We lose some depth, but the balance of the team would be much better. Sucks it would have to be AR, but at least it would be justified.

He’s not ready. He hasn’t even proved himself at the college level yet. But that doesn’t seem to matter anymore.

i don't know. guys who have done less have been drafted, imo. i mentioned deanthony melton in another thread. similar size, similarly meh-to-bad stats, similar strengths and weaknesses. drafted 46th and is a solid nba rotation player just what, three years later?

and you can't not factor the pedigree, imo.

if he's there at 55, we should just draft him. i wouldn't be surprised if someone gambled in the 40s. i'd be shocked if someone used a 1st on him, though.

Mitchell is the guy you go "all in" for if you go that route. As I've said, you better nail the margins on a high level and have some luck in the process.

Our offer always has been ready - Rob, "whomever you want on the roster and whatever draft capital we could accommodate you..." ROFL.

If that doesn't work, you'll still have some flexibility to improve the team.

Unrelated, but I will leave this here since we've done some general playoffs discussion in this thread... and it's funny:
